My self-summary
I'm mostly slim, somewhat shy, fairly geeky, generally kind, largely affectionate, and more introverted than not. I find writing self-promotional things like this about the most awkward thing ever, so I can't promise coherence. Feel free to ask me questions, even silly ones. Especially silly ones.
What I’m doing with my life
I spend my weekdays doing indescribable technical things with software and computers. The rest of the time, I spend sporadically home cooking, reading good books, having freewheelingly random conversations with good friends over decent wine and good beer. Drinking too much coffee. Spending lots of time outdoors when it's sunny. Relishing weather *just* warm enough for me to swim in London's big lidos. Long walks in the country.
I’m really good at
Producing a relevant pun for every occasion.
The first things people usually notice about me
"MUMMY, WHY HAS THAT MAN GOT NO HAIR?"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Anything by Neil Gaiman; Middlesex (Jeffrey Eugenides); anything by Iain Banks or Charlie Stross when they're not at their darkest and most unreadably disturbing. Good worldbuilding is a big plus; I love the sense of an entirely fictitious world made tangible. Unsympathetic characters are massively offputting.

Musically, I'm a bit all over the place: Jefferson Airplane, Tori Amos, Shez Raja and Mussorgsky are liable to be involved somewhere. (Pet musical hates: Autotune, audio compression).
The six things I could never do without
Wordplay.
Sarcasm.
Sunlight.
Large volumes of water, at more than about 12C, not infested by sharks, candiru, or poisonous jellyfish.
Coffee
Big fluffy towels.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Different subcultures, groups, and ideas overlapping and colliding.
People, media, and the Internet.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends in pubs, restaurants, cafes, or galleries. Avoiding clubs. Avoiding pubs pretending to be clubs. Alternatively, recovering from an untypically energetic Thursday night.
