I am offbeat, confident, and direct.
My Self-Summary
I was born in South Carolina, moved around a bunch until we finally
stopped in Florida. Grew up in Florida, got my AA in Computer
Animation and then decided that I didn't like the person I had
become. So I spent a year off (working a menial job) and then
joined the Air Force. Now I'm stationed in Korea, next is two years
in Tokyo.
I'm almost always in sandals (I guess it's the Florida in me). I'd
rather walk on the grass than on a sidewalk. I'm pretty laid back,
I can't remember the last time I yelled at someone, although I will
let you know if I'm not happy. I hate waiting in lines, especially
when it's at a bank or something and the person behind me feels
that, since we're both in line, now would be a great time to tell
me their entire life story. I love airports, I find myself getting
to the airport hours before my flight just to watch people coming
and going. My mind is constantly wandering and scheming, It's
always thinking of random things, for example: If men are from
Mars, and women are from Venus, does that mean that hermaphrodites
are the key to inter-planetary travel? And if so, why has NASA not
hired a whole bunch of em? I like driving, and I love traveling.
I'd rather go out wandering around by myself then with other
people, I can spend hours walking around a book store or an art
store and not even notice. I used to be late everywhere I went, but
now I'm always early (maybe the military taught me something
useful). If I find a new song or band that I like, I listen to them
ad nauseam until I find another band/song. If I start something, I
have to finish it, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. It usually only
takes me one time to learn something new. I don't like being told
what to do, though I can deal with it most of the time, I
absolutely can't deal with being patronized. If someone is rude to
me or asks me a dumb question I like to just stare at them like
they're an idiot until they give up and walk away. I like scaring
people (popping out from stuff and yelling) and pulling practical
jokes, really juvenile, I know, but the faces people make are
pretty damn funny. And lastly, apparently, I like to type
a
whole lot of stuff in one single paragraph.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an
Air Traffic Controller
and I'm about to go back to school to finish my BA for Sculpture
(hopefully) and also my BS in Aeronautical Sciences. My goal is to
continue my education as far as possible while it is free, then
once I get out of the military, I plan on getting a controlling job
with the FAA (for money) and doing freelance
sculpture (for fun).
I’m really good at
Keeping my
word. Making
smart ass comments.
Procrastination. Making people laugh when they're having a bad day,
or alternatively, pushing peoples buttons. Doing the
daily crossword.
Sculpting. Finding the easiest way to do any job. Getting paid more
to do less. Crossing my eyes, but not just both of them, one at a
time too, it's quite a feat.
Finding humor in
any situation. Building snowmen. Demolishing snowmen. Ghost
hunting. Playing games with little kids. Playing darts. Playing
soccer. Starting
random conversations about absolutely nothing (and being able to
carry them on for long periods of time). Making goat noises.
Belting a rock and roll "ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!". And also, being
modest.
The first things people usually notice about me
The confused look on my face, as I'm often wondering to myself how
some people have gone through their whole life without yet falling
into an open manhole.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Historical fiction is by far my favorite genre (Shogun, Tai
Pan, Princes of Ireland, Catch-22, etc.) Memoirs are my second
favorite: anything by David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs, The
Glass Castle was good as well. I'm also a fan of Chuck Palahniuk,
Cormac McCarthy and Anne Rice. I'll pretty much read anything, as
my bookcase can attest to.
Movies: I'm a huge movie fan, listing them would be pointless. I
love comedies, I love watching the same movie many times. If theres
a movie I haven't seen and it's on TV, I'll watch it, I don't know
why, but I will.
Music: I guess I'll just list a sampling of my playlist:
- Dave Matthews Band
- Foo Fighters
- Radiohead
- Dropkick Murphys
- Flogging Molly
- Stone Temple Pilots
- Rob Zombie
- Weezer
- Toadies
- Matchbox 20
- Jimmy Eat World
- Soundgarden
- Silverchair
- Less Than Jake
- Sister Hazel
- Flobots
- Rolling Stones
- Bush
- Beatles
- Gorillaz
Food: Anything that tastes good, I'll try anything once.
The six things I could never do without
My friends, my family, laughter, clay, something to read and
movies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I would do in the event of a zombie outbreak. The answer? Kick
some ass.
On a typical Friday night I am
Downtown enjoying some beverages with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I often try to move things with my mind, because one day, it's
gonna work.
