My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name's Dan.

First of all, I'm a musician. Music is a huge part of my life. I've been a percussionist/drummer for the last 22 years of my life. I know that whatever happens music will always be a part of my life. It's an unbelievable experience to have a hand in creating it.

I'm also a huge nerd/geek. I'm into science, technology, computers, math, etc. Check out
xkcd.com. If it makes you laugh then we would get along.

I am very good with all sorts of technical and mechanical things. I am a huge DIY junkie. I’m that guy that goes out and buys the parts to make something rather than just buying the finished product to save a few bucks. I always have a few "projects" I'm working on.

Check out my list of favorite tv/books/movies for more insight into my interests.

Some other facts:

I'm a PC.

I'm pretty sure I have a sleep disorder. Not helped by my totally totally irregular schedule. I rarely go to bed before 4 am. If you're a morning person we might have some issues...

I am a true believer in "Be Prepared". I'm good at solving problems and staying cool in a crisis.

I try to live my life by this quote from Christopher Titus: "Step up or step aside". I have no regrets. If I had the chance to go back in time and redo my past, I wouldn't.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'll let you know when I figure that out...

Here's my current status:
School:
I studied Music Education at URI and UMass Lowell for 4 years before I realized I wasn't interested in teaching. More recently I've been taking a few online courses while working 2 jobs.

Work:
I work for my town's Parks Department. (No I haven't seen Parks & Rec....)
During the summer, I run Mendon Town Beach. (We're open 11am-7pm everyday June-August, come visit!)
I have also worked various food service jobs, recently as a line cook at a local restaurant. Currently I also work in an elementary school cafeteria part time.

Music:
I perform all over the place. I do several pit bands for various musicals in the area. I play for several community and audition based Band/ Wind Ensembles in the area.

I also march in parades all over New England. So far I've done 100.

My Concert Schedule
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Percussion, Drumming, "kitchen-hands" (being able to grab hot things and not get burned), Foodservice, Working, Spatial Reasoning, Computers, Technology, Multi-tasking, Driving a manual transmission, Road Trips, Procrastination, Sleep, Not sleeping, touch-typing on the number pad, Microsoft Excel
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been wearing the same brand and style of shoes my entire life. (Reebok Classic Nylon)

I walk really fast.

I have long hair.

My hands and arms are covered in burns and scars from working in kitchens.

I do the EDC thing. (Every Day Carry) aka: I have way too much crap in my pockets all the time, but if you ever need pliers, a flashlight, or a tuning fork you know who to ask.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Favorite Music:
Currently listening to Techno.
Recently I've really liked:
Turisas, Bastille, Ludo, and Ben Folds.

At work we've been listening to Ludo radio and its been awesome. Or Summer Hits of the 90's
Really cool acoustic versions of 3 Turisas songs

I like rock, metal, classical, techno, basically everything except rap and country. Generally I will listen to anything though. I'm always open to new music.

One of my all-time favorite songs is "Ballet for a Girl from Buchannon" by Chicago

I'm open to suggestions...bonus points for non-standard instruments (bassoon, accordion) and songs not in 4/4 or 3/4.. Interestingly enough I've found a lot of great music on this site...(just wish I could find some great dates..)

TV:
Black Books, Look Around You, Pitch Men, Mythbusters, Good Eats, Bill Nye, Titus, The Guild, Parking Wars, Holmes on Homes, Holmes Inspections, Judge Judy, The Weird Al Show,, Spongebob, Ugly Americans, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Family Guy, Futurama, The Red Green Show, Modern Marvels, Leverage, Undercover Boss, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Criminal Minds, Most cop shows, Food Network, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Random Science stuff

Favorite Movies:
We Are The Night, Battle Royale, UHF, Employee of the Month, Scott Pilgrim, Tremors, Slipstream, Apollo 13, The Forsaken, Dance of the Dead, Penny Dreadful, Late night Horror/ Sci-Fi Movies, Zombie Movies, Vampire Movies, FEARnet

Favorite Books:
Overqualified (pretty much anything by Joey Comeau), Machine of Death (I really recommend this one), We're All In This Together (an Interview with Steve Smith of The Red Green Show), Scott Pilgrim, Battle Royale, Judge Judy’s books, Tom Clancy’s books, Lost Moon/Apollo 13, Failure is Not an Option, Harry Potter, Merlin, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Alton Brown, Cook Books, books about foodservice and restaurants.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sleep
My Computer/Internet
My Car
Music/Drums/Percussion
Google/Android...alright my phone
A Dog
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I usually plan things out in my head rather than draw things out on paper. Often I'm thinking of better ways to do things, the next thing I need to get on Ebay, what I would do in case of a Zombie attack... you get the idea.

My thought processes are very random. I can change subjects instantly. One of my exes sent me a text a few weeks after we started dating that said "I'm finally learning to speak Dan!" after deciphering something I sent.

How to achieve my goals of learning to play every musical instrument and learning Russian.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
After a year and a half of working weekends I am free on Friday nights. So naturally I've been spending them at home on my computer or watching TV.

Otherwise I'm usually out playing a concert or show.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am fairly introverted. I'm not a big fan of large parties or "the club scene".

Even though I have long hair, I find really short hair on girls a turn off 93% of the time.

I'll also admit to one trashy TV obsession...Parental Control on MTV. It's totally fake but at the same time hilarious. Also Friendzone..not sure if this one is real or not..
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to go on a date to a restaurant supply store. j/k (Actually, I'm serious haha If you think that sounds fun message me!)

You want to cook together.

Let's build something, fix something, or play music.

Want to come see a musical or a concert? (And not mind the fact that I have to be there 3 hours early...)

How about marathon all the Harry Potter movies. I've only seen the 1st and 5th and I just re-read the books.

I am looking for a long term relationship. Someone who is in a similar place in life. Pictures of dogs and you with instruments get bonus points.. :)

There's a question on this site that asks "What you are looking for? (Someone for tonight, someone to go out with, or someone to come home to)
My answer is "I'm looking for someone to come home to."
I think that is a pretty good representation of what I'm looking for in a relationship.

I'm not interested in wasting my time with drama or games. I'm not really looking for casual dates either. Also, If your status isn't "single" I'm not interested. I don't do poly. Nothing against it, just not for me..

I added you to my favorites or rated you highly it usually means I'm browsing OKC at work, during a rehearsal, or in class on my phone and want to be able to read your profile later, when I have time.

Also, despite what it may say, I'm not online 24/7. Thanks to tabbed browsing I have a bad habit of leaving multiple things open (sometimes on multiple computers...)for days (or at least until my browser crashes).
