My self-summary

I love playing games of all sorts (video games, board games, card games, whatever!). I also enjoy camping, singing, fishing (though I rarely catch anything), rock climbing, and trying new things.
I love knowledge, both learning and teaching.
I have a politically incorrect sense of humor. Though I've learned to censor myself well, don't be afraid of offending me.
I'm passable on drums and enjoy singing.

I built an autonomous robot using a Roomba for the chassis. Now 95% of my ads on OKC are from iRobot.

I am a big nerd in all the best ways.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a graduate Radiation Health Physics student at Oregon State with a focus on Radioecology. I'm working on a radionuclide survey of the pelagic food web off our coast, which means less free time but lots more Science!

I've been getting some questions so I'll put this here: yes, I am the Delvan of Amaragh Associates. I do some computer forensics work when time allows, mostly related to torrent litigation.
I’m really good at
Getting along with good people from all walks of life. I enjoy everything from the stupid, painful puns to horribly offensive things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't play most of the social games every seems to go for...I'm direct, straightforward, blunt, and open in my communication with other people the vast majority of the time. The downside is, I usually assume other people are doing the same, so I'm terrible at trying to read subtle signals.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Some books I've read and enjoyed include The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams (and of course the Hitchiker's series), The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, The Prophet by Khalil Gibran, Wicked by Gregory McGuire, and Spin by Robert Charles Winston. A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore was quite enjoyable, I'll probably try some of his other books soon. I also finally got around to reading Watchmen. I was surprised just how well the movie followed the book, but there were definitely some extra morsels in there that I hope end up in deleted scenes for the DVD.

I enjoy movies of all sorts other than gory horror (just boring). I don't often have the time to sit down and watch TV, these days I'm more likely watching a Geek & Sundry episode on YouTube if anything. But as far as actual TV goes, a few favorites are Mythbusters, Survivorman, Reno 911!, and Family Guy.

Music: I enjoy a broad range of music, but I tend towards the classics. I have no idea who any of the up and coming artists are for the last few years, and I'm pretty bad at remembering band names to begin with. Here's a random selection of stuff on my playlist right now: Flight of the Conchords, Styx, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tenacious D, Frank Sinatra , Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Radiohead, Damien Rice, Led Zeppelin, Ella Fitzgerald, Howlin' Wolf, Queen, God Lives Underwater, Johnny Cash, and The Doobie Brothers.

My favorite cuisines are good chinese and good japanese, especially sushi. Also anything with garlic in it, good hot wings. Yum!
The six things I could never do without
Freedom - Freedom from arbitrary social boundaries, freedom to express myself.

Peace - Internal Peace, peace of heart and peace of mind.

Friends & Family - What's the point in going to work, or in having any free time afterwards, if you don't have these?

Music - I enjoy a lot of different music, though I'm finding my preferences are rather outdated compared to my peers. I don't follow up and coming band names, as I've found my more enjoyable music from the past than on the radio.

Laughter - It takes a while before I joke much with someone, as I need to get a feel for their taboo subjects.

Electronics - Don't get me wrong, I love going out in the woods or even getting together and agreeing to keep things low-tech and simple. It's nice to get a peaceful break from all the input from so many different devices, but I certainly wouldn't want to go long term without a reliable computer and an internet connection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. My brain rarely shuts off. I often go off on strange segues in conversation, and I have a tendency to over-explain myself.
On a typical Friday night I am
These days I drive down to Eugene most weekends. Nearly all of my Corvallis friends graduated this term, so that'll still be the case until I branch out to some new people here locally.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't keep secrets about myself and I don't embarrass easily. Literally any subject is open with me.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if find me interesting. You need not be looking for a romantic connection: If you think we'd have some activities in common, drop me a line. I'd like to find a couple climbing buddies for Dixon, and I'm in serious need of folks who enjoy board games or some co-op video games.
