My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Howdy!

I love playing games of all sorts (video games, board games, card games, whatever!). I also enjoy camping, singing, fishing (though I rarely catch anything), rock climbing, and trying new things.
I love knowledge, both learning and teaching.
I have a politically incorrect sense of humor. Though I've learned to censor myself well, don't be afraid of offending me.
I'm passable on drums and enjoy singing.

I built an autonomous robot using a Roomba for the chassis. Now 95% of my ads on OKC are from iRobot.

I am a big nerd in all the best ways.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a graduate Radiation Health Physics student at Oregon State with a focus on Radioecology. I'm working on a radionuclide survey of the pelagic food web off our coast, which means less free time but lots more Science!

I also run a home business, Amaragh Associates. I do computer forensics work there, mostly for defendants in BitTorrent litigation.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Getting along with good people from all walks of life. I enjoy everything from the stupid, painful puns to questionably offensive things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't play most of the social games every seems to go for...I'm direct, straightforward, blunt, and open in my communication with other people the vast majority of the time. The downside is, I usually assume other people are doing the same, so I'm terrible at trying to read subtle signals.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Some books I've read and enjoyed include The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams (and of course the Hitchiker's series), The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, The Prophet by Khalil Gibran, Wicked by Gregory McGuire, and Spin by Robert Charles Winston. A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore was quite enjoyable, I'll probably try some of his other books soon. I also finally got around to reading Watchmen. I was surprised just how well the movie followed the book, but there were definitely some extra morsels in there that I hope end up in deleted scenes for the DVD.

I enjoy movies of all sorts other than gory horror (just boring). I don't often have the time to sit down and watch TV, these days I'm more likely watching a Geek & Sundry episode on YouTube if anything. But as far as actual TV goes, my current viewing has been Inside Amy Schumer, Bob's Burgers, Brooklyn 99 and Adventure Time, typically playing on a spare monitor while my attention is focused on something else.

Music: I enjoy a broad range of music, but I tend towards the classics. I have no idea who any of the up and coming artists are for the last few years, and I'm pretty bad at remembering band names to begin with. Here's a random selection of stuff on my playlist right now: The Doubleclicks Flight of the Conchords, Styx, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tenacious D, Frank Sinatra , Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Howlin' Wolf, Queen, God Lives Underwater, Johnny Cash, and The Doobie Brothers.

Gaming: There's not much I don't enjoy when it comes to gaming, and if I'm playing it with friends what personal preferences in games I do have don't tend affect my enjoyment much. Most recently been playing Kerbal Space Academy and Elite: Dangerous on PC, Rampage and Settlers of Catan on tabletop.

My favorite cuisines are good chinese and good japanese, especially sushi. Also anything with garlic in it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I'll skip over the actual necessities given that this is meant to pull out tastes and preferences other than "I like breathing air" and "My tummy makes angry grumbles when its empty".

Freedom - Freedom from arbitrary social boundaries, freedom to express myself.

Peace - Internal Peace, peace of heart and peace of mind.

Friends & Family - What's the point in going to work, or in having any free time afterwards, if you don't have these?

Laughter - It takes a while before I joke much with someone, as I need to get a feel for their taboo subjects.

Electronics - Don't get me wrong, I love going out in the woods or even getting together and agreeing to keep things low-tech and simple. It's nice to get a peaceful break from all the input from so many different devices, but I certainly wouldn't want to go long term without a reliable computer and an internet connection.

Games - This is the hobby that doesn't ever seem to wax and wane like my other interests. It might shuffle between PC and console, board games and pen & paper, but I've never hit a point where I was done with gaming.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. My brain rarely shuts off. I often go off on strange segues in conversation, and I have a tendency to over-explain myself.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
These days its either board games at my place, or making a batch of homebrew.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I own and use a Squatty Potty.
