My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a world traveler, an editor and a foodie. I love party games (especially Taboo) and hosting dinner parties. I am a shutterbug with a Nikon D7000, and I'm a cinephile. I spend much of my time online, but I get paid to do that.

I can gussy up for a black-tie event with a moment's notice, and I can pack for a cross-country weekend in five minutes.

I'm interested in someone who values the power of language, has an inquisitive nature and an adventurous spirit. If you're a fellow cat-lover (I have one, who is geriatric but has been with me since kittenhood), so much the better.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After years as a work-required night owl, I'm adjusting to the life of a person with closer-to-banker's hours. This means I'm out and about a lot more than I was even when I was younger, but there's so much to explore in the food/drink scene.

I'm also plotting my next out-of-town journey. Continents left to conquer: Australia, Africa and Antarctica.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm excellent at untangling knots, literal and metaphorical.

And my superpower is the ability to make friends quickly with people in the hospitality industry. This has afforded me many excellent insider tips at restaurants, bars and hotels.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If we're at a bar, chances are I know one (or more) of the bartenders and am letting dealer's choice be my next cocktail.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

READING MATERIAL: It's hard to narrow down favorites. I have a stack of books at my bedside that I choose from depending on my mood -- but mostly, I'm plowing through management tips. A favorite recent novel is "The Night Circus," which I'm rereading; the author paints stunning visuals with her words, plus it's an engaging love story with the killer ingredient, magic.

FLICKS: I put a lot of stock in films that Ann Hornaday likes, so luckily, she has a wide range of well-rated movies. I hate people who talk in movie theaters, so I'm more of a DVD-at-home gal.

SMALL SCREEN: I just canceled DirecTV, so it'll take some doing to get me sucked back in to anything that's a serial show.

TUNES: I like most kinds of music, and I expand my horizons through KCRW's song-a-day podcast and friends' Spotify playlists.

EATS: I'll eat most anything in any cuisine. Perhaps easier to list my food dislikes: lamb, goat cheese and raw onions.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Not necessarily in order of importance ...

1. iPhone
2. filtered water
3. lip balm
4. my passport
5. tomatoes
6. naps
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why do I always dance as though someone is watching? Why would anyone else care anyway?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I might be at home with a quality bourbon, but I'm likely exploring the food/drink scene.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was actually born in the '70s, but I'm testing a theory about ageism.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Impress me by telling me why you think we're complementary and why I should take a chance on meeting you in real life. I don't like ping-ponging pseudonymous e-mails/chats.

Must-haves beyond the personality intangibles: the second-nature response of opening doors for others (chivalry, some might say) and an excellent sartorial sense.
