My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I tend not to bother writing self-summaries, but now that i've read other people's, it just seems unsporting to leave this blank...

I'm what others may call 'different' but have been assured by mental health professionals that I am merely 'special'. OK, not really. I'm probably just eccentric.

I play American Football which takes up quite a bit of time, as I haven't been graced with innate overwhelming athleticism - so I have to go to the gym fairly frequently to run on the spot and repeatedly pick up heavy things before putting them down again. Unfortunately, I dislike most of the other people in the gym, so this only adds to the broadly masochistic experience.

I have a bit of an obsession with finding things out, but suspect that if I didn't have internet access I wouldn't be able to find things out using more traditional methods (such as a library). It's a bit unsettling because it means that I'm kind of Google's plaything. At least my main source of knowledge isn't Fox News, i guess. I have been told by some that this is a bit geeky, but there it is.
i'd like to engage in a boxing match within a year - it's for no purpose other than to appreciate being in an enclosed area with someone whose sole motivation is to hurt and survive me. [edit: recovering from an injury - this is on the back burner for a while]

Some other dull, tedious tidbits about me;
I am of Turkish origin
I have broken 13 bones in my time [update: now on 14![further update: 15!

I would like to be more visually creative than I have been thus far [edit: i spend a lot of time and energy on photography, so i've addressed this]
I feel that writing exclusively about myself is inherently immodest, even if that is the entire purpose of a self-summary.

I am laid-back, inquisitive, and drinking
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
searching for remnants of broken dreams in the shadows. they're always in the last place you look.

when not doing that, I take photographs of people and /or stuff. should we ever meet, I will spend at least 45 seconds devising a photoshoot involving you during which time I will stare blankly into space...
... and that's the story I'll be sticking with should you ask me what I'm thinking about.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Avoiding questions, avoiding sleep, giving the impression that I am working, appearing competent whilst drunk, forgetting things that i find boring.

i'm working on being really good at taking photographs. i'd like to think that i'm some of the way there.

getting back up. you'd be surprised how important a skill it is.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have long hair. Many people find this astonishing. It really isn't that remarkable. Also that I have quite a few scars. i get hurt a lot, it isn't an intentional thing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I tend to like all the books of various authors, such as; Thom Jones, Douglas Coupland, Paul Auster, John Steinbeck. I've probably read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown about 5 times. I'll read just about anything though as long as it's not too mainstream (such as JK Rowling / Dan Brown / etc). I really liked the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman.

Musically I mostly like stuff made by bands with real instruments, though my favourites include; Led Zeppelin, Alkaline Trio, Alice in Chains, Bullet for My Valentine, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tool, White Zombie, Metallica, Monster Magnet, Soundgarden/RATM/Audioslave, Aerosmith, Springsteen, isolated rap songs, the Rolling Stones, i've just started listening to John Frusciante's solo stuff and some of it is really good, etc & etc.

Favourite movies are pretty numerous, and I would invariably omit lots if i tried to compile a long list. as a sample;
The Crow, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, For A Few Dollars More, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Swingers, Any Given Sunday, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. mindless stuff with explosions is fun too.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
An ipod / equivalent. i struggle do anything menial without one.
Many, many books
Something at which to compete
The opportunity to exchange sarcastic remarks with people who will appreciate them
My friends / teammates (mandatory response, i guess... "no man is an island")
The capacity for abstract thought.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Filling Jack Daniel's coffers with the fruits of the week's work.

or wearing a lot of tight clothing and fighting crime with the boy wonder against gotham's criminal hordes.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Writing things on these sorts of websites make me feel vaguely uncomfortable and awkward. and after that gotham thing the cops are probably on to me, so i feel i've shared enough.
