I am passionate, honest, and intelligent.

My Self-Summary

I'm a geek, and wear that label proudly. Okay, maybe not proudly, but there you have it. It's part of who I am, and not likely to change soon.

I love learning and reading, I play the guitar (over 13 years now -- scary), I prefer two wheels to four (rode a motorcycle exclusively for four years), and I'm equally happy going out to play pool and have drinks (mmm... tequila, though bourbon works too) or to chill at home and watch a movie. I'm also fond of parenthetical statements (you didn't notice?).

I'm very physically affectionate, at least in private. Cuddling is WAY underrated; I couldn't date someone who didn't like cuddling.

I'm passionate about life -- apathy is boring! The most trivial things can be interesting when you really invest yourself into them...

What I’m doing with my life

I'm done with school and have a career I enjoy. I do consulting, computer programming. My weekends are mostly spent riding my motorcycle (a sportbike, not a Harley) or finding some other excuse to get out of town, especially to go hiking (when weather permits -- I miss AZ :-[).

I’m really good at

I'm really good at my job. As for something relevant, uh..

I'm great at being honest. Maybe too much so -- I've been called brutally honest more than once. (Personal motto: "honesty is paramount")

Also, I'm a good listener. If someone has something they care about enough to talk about at length, it's gotta be worth hearing, right? So I actually pay attention. Apparently this is unusual?

Honorable mention: Sudoku -- I'm not great, but I play enough that I must be better than most.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes -- they're very green. Of course I don't immediately mention that I wear contacts...

Also maybe my somewhat crooked nose: it looks like it's been broken once or twice, but as far as I can remember it's always been this way.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I listen to music all day at work, and often while going to sleep. I listen mostly to metal (thrash, black, neo-classical) but love anything that takes technical ability to play; virtuoso on any instrument is awesome. As a result I listen to a lot of classical as well, favorites being Rachmaninoff and Paganini. At the moment I can't get enough of Primordial, and Opeth is getting their fair share of play time. Nostalgic favorites are Dissection and old In Flames. All that said, I don't particularly care whether we have the same taste in music; music is something personal to me, so I like keeping it to myself.

I mostly read reference books. Yeah, I know, no comment... Favorite fiction author is Sharon K. Penman; the granular detail she puts into her books is amazing. I'd throw Dickens as a second for the same reason.

My favorite movies tend to really make you think, but I love horror and sophmoric comedies too. Oh, and war movies. Honestly, I'm not really particular -- entertainment is entertainment. Even musicals work; Hairspray (the original) and The Sound of Music are awesome.

I don't watch much TV, but I never miss Top Chef or House, and my Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development DVDs have been well used. Family Guy, Cowboy Bebop, and Dexter warrant a mention too, and Adult Swim deserves some sort of award.

I love ethnic food, my favorite being Vietnamese, with Ethiopian as a close second. But, if I had to live on one food for the rest of my life, it would probably be sushi. I just never get tired of it...

The six things I could never do without

#1 is easily my MP3 player. Beyond that, I'm honestly not sure; I'm really NOT materialistic, and tend to go with the flow. Realistically, uh, a computer with internet access I guess?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My future, my past, work, how to stop thinking so much so I can friggin fall asleep. Nothing noteworthy.

On a typical Friday night I am

Ideally out watching a movie, or drinking, or playing pool, or bowling. But I'm just moving to WA from AZ and don't really anyone, so that's why I'm on this site, no?
