I’m a twenty eight year old dude who’s looking for a woman I can have a conversation with. I have a desk job but would (ideally) make a living writing novels, poems, and short stories—this is what I love to do. I also play guitar, hike, run, lift weights, read—nearly anything that’s not sitting in front of the TV all night (although I do watch The Walking Dead, Daily Show, Breaking Bad, and so on). Timbers and Winterhawks games are also a blast.
I feel like I’m a pretty normal dude—I’ve done some things. I moved here from the East Coast a while back and I love it. I went to college, backpacked Europe, have some tattoos, and so on. I’ve met random people, drank way too much, enjoyed coffeeshops and walks. A great view, especially shared, is one of the greatest things one can experience. I try to meditate but don’t as much as I would like to. I’ve had relationships that taught me a lot about how to treat people, and about my own limitations as a person. I think this is important in any future relationship—knowing yourself well enough that you can admit your flaws, and truly seeing the other person as another complex human being. I think when you’re younger, a partner is about looks and completing yourself and other (somewhat) simplistic views, but as you age you realize that you don’t need any outside source for completion, it’s just better to do things with someone you care about.
I joined okcupid because the bar scene sucks for meeting someone. I really enjoy great conversations and trading opinions about social injustice, gender roles, or why you think we’re here rather than talking about the weather. I’m attracted to opinionated women that formed their own interests, ideas, and are passionate about something, whatever that is.
I guess that’s about it. People that get to know me think that who I actually am is nothing like how I look, whatever that means. I think that some days are best spent hiking while others are best spent laying around, just as the best nights can be in dive bars playing cards while others are best spent going out to a play or nonprofit event. I like cats and try to be a vegetarian but have been known to eat bacon or a burger if sufficiently hungover.
