My Self-Summary
I very much enjoy talking about life, philosophy, psychology, etc and enjoy hanging around with people who also enjoy these types of conversations (not exclusively of course). I suppose I debate/discuss in a primarily analytical way. At the same time I have quite little patience for pseudo intellectual types who feign knowledge/interest/ability in subjects. I guess you could say there are two sides to me, one is kind of intense and analytical and the other is quite sarcastic/non-serious and playful.
For music, I would say I'm mainly interested in Jazz, electronic/house, indy, rock, classical to name a few. Some bands would be nina simone, billie holiday, aphex twin, daft punk, philip glass, the beatles, kruder and dorfmeister, nine inch nails, elliot smith, iron and wine to name some particular bands. I'm also a big movie fan and have been told I'm pretty animated/dramatic in my conversation.
As for sports, I do mainly weight lifting (5 times a week or so) and generally have a very healthy diet. I enjoy cooking quite a bit, even with the constraints of healthiness. My main vice is that I still drink alcohol quite frequently, but I just love it too much.
Anyway that just about summarizes me I think!

What I’m doing with my life
I was previously in Bonn, Germany doing the second part of my PhD (mathematical physics) and before that living in France (Lyon) doing the first part of my degree at ENS. Hence for now I spend my days trying to write papers with sufficiently fancy titles that people won't notice the lack of meaningful content present within my work..
This past summer I was Biarritz, France trying desperately to improve my french and learn how to surf. It would be nice to meet some native speakers. My french at this point has gotten to a decent intermediate level, and I would love to have a chance to speak french with someone. I really miss french culture..hope I can go back to visit soon.
I chose to come to France/Germany to do my degree because I wanted to have the opportunity to expose myself to new cultures, people etc while doing my degree. So far I've had really fantastic cultural experiences and have learned a tremendous amount...namely that I never want to deal with french bureacracy ever again. As for living in Bonn, I have to say it's a little bit boring and isolating and I didn't have the best time.
Travelling from country to country doing my degree has been very educational and fufilling, and makes me feel like a free spirit in some sense. At times though, it can be difficult being uprooted constantly and not haivng a real place to call home..exciting though I suppose!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Food: Hummous, Thai, Indian, whole grain breads, salads (healthy stuff yes). I enjoy cooking stir fries, pastas, salads using whole grains, fresh vegetables etc. I eat quite frequently I suppose (about 5 times a day), and have personally been a bit frustrated that there is much less pre-prepared food in Europe than in North America. So time consuming!
Books: The God Delusion, Catcher in the Rye, Nausea (Jean Paul Sartre), Critique of Pure Reason (Kant), The man who mistook his wife for a hat (Oliver Sacks), Surely you must be joking Mr. Feynman.
Movies: Anything with zombies/kung fu is usually a plus.
In reality, I suppose I enjoy 12 Monkeys, Clockwork Orange, koyanisqaatsi, The Host, American History X, Eraserhead (definitely), The short films of David Lynch, to name a few. It's hard to list without going into specific genres I suppose.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
In reality I spend a of time thinking about people, and why they do the things they do. I guess this falls into the category of sociology/psychology. I enjoy thinking about any sort of controversial issues, and engaging with people who have differing opinions on the various topics. This is horribly general I realize, but one of my faults I suppose is a tendancy to try to over generalize ideas/concepts..I'll stop talking now.
On a typical Friday night I am

but in particular it would be nice to meet someone who is also working towards a graduate degree. I have to speend a considerable amount of my time working, and it would be great to have someone to spend that time with who also is also in a similar situation.
You should not message me if you are very religious since I don't think we could really be compatible in that case.
Ideally I'd like to meet someone smart, curious, cute and passionate. So, yeah.
