I am awesome, shaken, and stirred.

My Self-Summary

i'll be straight up - the best way to get to know me is not through a silly paragraph, but by talking to me. i don't bite. really.

* i do NOT want sex until i'm married. i'm not saying i've never done anything, because i can't say that's the case, but sex is one thing i will hold sacred for my wife. if you can't handle that, you need not apply. however, once i'm married... it's gunna be a freaking party. 'nuff said.
* i'm a christian, and i'm not interested in entering a relationship with someone who isn't one either.
* i'm a musician with a creative personality. if you can't understand that, aren't creative, or don't understand how someone can have an almost obsessive passion for music, you might as well keep going. it's a big part of my life.
* i'm not in a place to handle wishy-washy women who are still in love with someone, still stumbling over past hurt, or who i'm interested in but they "want time to be single." i've been hurt by those things more times than i care to talk about, and i won't give you the time of day if you have any of these issues. i believe friendship is the first step to any relationship, and everyone has some emotional baggage, but holding on to it tightly is unhealthy for me as well as you.
* i'm not your typical christian. i DO drink, but never enough to get drunk. i DO occasionally smoke, but it's rare, and it's usually hookah or a cigar or cloves (that said, i'm also very respectful of anyone that doesn't smoke, and i won't smoke around them). i'm not super conservative, but i'm not a liberal - there are things the church and the government have put into place as tradition that i feel aren't 100% accurate to persuade others of.
* if you're unwilling to give to a relationship, emotionally, physically, mentally, whatever, and are just looking for a date, i would love to be your friend, but i'm looking for a real relationship. i'm not looking to play silly games. i'm not looking for a flaky girl to have a good time with - i'm looking for a solid girl to have a great life with.
* i am overweight, but well proportioned. if you can't deal with that, keep going.
* i often fall for the quieter, slender, mysterious petite women, but that's not always the case, so please don't discount yourself if you're not in that category. however, that's who i have always been in relationships with, and about 80% of who i'm interested in.

so anyway...

* like i said, i'm a musician - i play guitar, bass, keys/synth, and a little mandolin. music is my passion in life. i play every sunday at a church, and occasionally do recording and gigs with other musicians. i was in a local band for a while, but i couldn't take the lead singer, so i got out.
* i'm a christian, and i hang very strongly on those morals, but i'm not some super pure, bible-pushing guy either. i'm very strong about my beliefs, but pushing anything on anyone is going to do nothing but push them further away.
* i work during the week at a dead-end job, but it pays the bills. i'm trying to start up my own business though doing "creative services" for small businesses and musicians - web design, logo design, marketing, web SEO, and for the musicians, recording, production, management, photography, and more.
* i don't take things too seriously and i joke around a lot. however, when it's time to be serious, i'm there.

either way, contact me if you want to get to know me. i'd love to get to know you. :)

привет! как дела? я не говорю по-русски очень хорошо.

What I’m doing with my life

working, playing music, churchin', and trying to stay sane.

I’m really good at

doing nothing at work. it's an art. i get exactly what i need done, and nothing more. it's not that i don't like to do my job, it's that i have no drive to do it.

actually, that said, i do work pretty hard. i'm not a slacker, and if i have something i have to do, i'll do it.

i'm also pretty great at "that's what she said" jokes while building a desk.

i'm actually good at a lot of things. anything i work at, i'm usually pretty successful at.

The first things people usually notice about me

i don't honestly know. i've never asked.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books: i don't really read. not that i don't like to, i just don't get drawn in like many people do. i was raised on playing nintendo games, so, as a byproduct, video and action excites me more than black and white text. that aside, a couple books i really like are the bible (essential) and men are from mars, women are from venus (great one).

update: recently i've picked up a couple books that i'm really excited about: the metamorphosis by franz kafka and zen guitar by philip toshio sudo.

movies: really anything. i tend to favor comedies, and i don't really care for horror or extraneous blood and gore, or movies with ludicrous amounts of sex in it - i'm not a prude and i can handle some of that, but i don't like to be subjected to essentially a porno disguised as a new comedy flick. some favorites are monty python and the holy grail, hot fuzz, garden state, and once (amazing movie if you haven't seen it). just saw juno for the first time and loved it.

for funzies, i'm adding tv shows: i have a crazy knack for getting into shows that only last a season or two and get cancelled. current favorites (not all are cancelled :) ) include the watchman, terminator: the sarah connor chronicles, burn notice, royal pains, fringe, and psych.

music: i listen to a wide variety of music, but i've been stuck on indie rock for a while - bands like mae (my absolute favorite band), coldplay, copeland, barcelona. i have just as much fun at a blues or jazz gig in a small hole-in-the-wall club as i do seeing u2 or muse in a huge stadium, and enjoy both as equally. though... i'm not a big fan of mainstream rock or mainstream country - it's all recycled, and nothing real creative's coming out of either at the moment. currently listening to brad paisley, keith urban, lights, don lappin, muse, kurt elling, deas veil, elan trotman, amy bowles, branford marsalis quartet, the sounds, and john mayer.

my current love - this pandora station: http://bit.ly/X2DjS
kind of goes between nasty noisy indie electronica and almost trance-like songs, with some pretty singer-songwriter stuff in between.

my favorite albums of all time would have to be the garden state soundtrack, mae's "the everglow", and dave martone's "a demon's dream." but... the once soundtrack is a classic in it's own right. woo.

food: italian! though i also love mexican, thai, and cuban. yum. i'm not picky, except i hate green beans. with a passion. and it's more because i get sick if i even smell them. feed them to me and you'll learn very quickly how much i don't like a green bean. ptooey.

The six things I could never do without

God
friends
music
...

actually, that's about it. besides the obvious (oxygen, water, earth, atmosphere, food, etc.), i guess i rely a lot on my iphone and my macbook pro too. and i live for coffee.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the friends i care for the most. they are more important to me than anything. my future. how to build things. what i should do about certain situations. researching things in my head. how i can be happier. what i should do to my apartment. why this bit of code works in section a of this application but not in the other. why i love coffee. fish. aquatic life. the ocean. the beach. miami. boston. berklee college of music. music in general. traveling. italy. a fine spaghetti dinner. noodles. guitar strings. i need to go to guitar center.

wait, what?

On a typical Friday night I am

i'm unpredictable on weekends. i am, after all, a single guy, living on my own, so i try to make my weekends as productive as possible. the last few fridays (and subsequent weekends) have been as follows (in no particular order):
* up in fredericksburg to play worship music for a women's retreat w/ my church
* in boston seeing some amazing acts at a jazz festival
* in charlottesville, visiting my best friend
* worship gig in mechanicsville
* at home, practicing some guitar stuff and cleaning up my apartment

so i'm a bit all over the place.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i'm secretly a ninja.

You should message me if

you find something in my profile that really sticks out to you. i'm ideally looking for a relationship, but i'd love to meet new people as well.
