I am perpetually fascinated by the world that surrounds me. I need to understand how it works and how it all fits together. Some people say the small things appeal to small minds but I reckon an interest in the little things demonstrates curiosity.

I work for a small company doing chemistry research which is great because I get paid actual money just to play in a lab all day. I like to solve problems and puzzles of all sizes. I guess you could call me a bit of a geek, but it's an epithet I'm happy with.

I enjoy cooking and eating and wish I had more time for it during the week, playing poker at home or in a casino and pottering round the house and garden. My sister quite successfully got me into F1 a couple of years ago and I watch the big rugby union tournaments when they're on but other than that I can take or leave most sport. I like to dance to most things electronica from time to time (though not drum 'n' bass, for some reason I've never been able to coordinate all my limbs to that kind of music) but not every weekend

Saving the world. Apparently the deadline for this is approaching

My job, puzzles, saying the right things at the wrong moment, dancing like nobody's watching (because usually they're not), making sandwiches

Not sure I'd like to prejudice our first encounter. Besides, I can't remember meeting me for the first time

I don't really have favourite books, just ones I've enjoyed. Starting reading Oscar Wilde recently. Smart fellow

Movies depend on what mood I'm in, sometimes big explosions (anything by Jerry Bruckheimer), sometimes weird (think Wes Anderson). Not really a fan of films I have to read the subtitles or "scary" films. They're not scary, just silly

Lots and lots and lots of dance music, classic FM at work (a lab full of Beethoven is much nicer to work in), bands at festivals

Favourite cuisine is Chinese but I'll try basically anything once

In no particular order; tea, cider, bacon, cheese, friends, family
