My self-summary
monstergender/monstersexual (genderqueer/agender demiguy, currently mostly asexual, historically androsexual, panromantic, polyamorous). definitely a top/dom, introvert/extravert switch, neophile, cynically optimistic and/or optimistically cynical, fluently sarcastic, bitey, feathered, and deeply strange. about as easy as a nuclear war. alignment: chaotic generally-well-intentioned. INELOQUENT ASSHAT. not actually into Homestuck.

oh, and (since this evidently needs to be SPELLED OUT for some people): polyamory IS NOT THE SAME THING as cheating. I do not cheat in relationships, nor do I enable cheating.
What I’m doing with my life
brain surgery/hacking on myself. it's a work in progress.

writing. not anything in particular at this point, although I do have three fanfic projects that I'm slowly adding to.
I’m really good at
synasthesia; it's blue, and smells like citrus.

when I say I'm "deeply strange," I don't mean it in a "HEY LOOK I'M SO WACKY I QUOTE MONTY PYTHON!" kind of way. (quoting Monty Python to show how "random" you are is roughly equivalent to putting tuna in mac & chz and claiming you're a fusion chef, btw.) I mean--well, I guess if you're curious (and brave) enough to find out, message me and you'll see. I do have a pretty well-constructed and convincing person suit that I wear for most public occasions, but when I'm comfortable enough to relax a bit, my inner alien anthropologist starts poking out. ("is that an alien anthropologist in your person suit, or are you just happy to see me?")
The first things people usually notice about me
I have emerald green hair. have had for several years now. it sometimes seems that it's the *only* thing people notice about me--which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I love it, it suits me, and I'm endlessly fascinated by other people's reactions to it. and it makes me pretty easily recognizable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Welcome to Night Vale
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
Monty Python
Terry Gilliam movies
The Prisoner (British and American versions)
Doctor Who (bonus points for familiarity with "the old series")
Elementary (I have yet to catch the show in an episode-breaking error; I know from experience that the self-tattooing scene is *exactly correct*)(also there are lots of other reasons I'm entranced with the show, message me for geeksqueeing)
Glitch Mob
Hannibal, though it's provisional right now (I wasn't terribly impressed with the second season)

music: my YouTube music channel has been described as "trolling myself musically." if you've ever been to Bumbershoot or a similar festival, and had the experience of standing in one place while being able to simultaneously hear up to a half-dozen different bands playing completely different styles of music, it's kind of like that--though I doubt much of what I listen to would ever be played at a Bumbershoot festival. right now I'm going through a phase of dub-electronica-techno, and getting a lot of good suggestions from a friend's 17-year-old daughter.

food: gluten-free, please.
The six things I could never do without
ignore the header; I've always used this as a "free space" on my profile, and now's no different.

while I do like showing people new and interesting things they haven't encountered before (because sharing education is the best bonding experience), I also do expect a certain level of initiative in learning about new things. if your response to encountering a word/concept you're not familiar with is "OOH NIFTY!" and immediately looking it up (then maybe getting lost in Wikipedia for an hour or two), that's a plus. if your response is "I don't know what that is and I don't care" or "I don't know what that is and that intimidates/frightens/angers me" or "I don't know what that is and I will expect you to explain it to me because I don't know how to Google," that's a minus.

this picture http://misterlucian.tumblr.com/image/80963957230 was not drawn by me, but it's certainly accurate.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
science = art; the division is arbitrary and irrelevant.

if sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, then magic is just technology we don't yet understand.
* COROLLARY: sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from friendship.

dark matter is either phlogiston or the spoor of the Elder Things that live between the stars.

xenopaleontology.

when (not if) the technology exists to record and play back dreams, I plan on becoming a bestselling dream artist.

postsingularity transhumanism, and presingularity humanitarianism.

replacing my digestive system with something more efficient, preferably involving a/c or cold fusion.

cognitive behavioral therapy--I'm hoping to give it a try myself at some point.

cats.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I honestly have no idea why I reactivated this account. also, I play Cookie Clicker. (up to 1,040,305 Heavenly Chips!)
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 25–55
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
any (not necessarily all!) of the following apply:
--you're curious/interested and not intimidated.
--you identify with over 50% of my profile.
--you're amused by stuff I've written in response to questions and/or want to talk about them.
--you identify as anything other than cisgender.
--you have *at least* a 101-level understanding of social justice. (MRA? PUA? FOAD, kthx)
--you're an alien anthropologist.
--you're otherkin. (wasn't kidding about the velociraptor thing)(though it's actually a lot more complicated OF COURSE)
--all of the above. (BINGO!)

on the other hand, I'm ambivalent enough about even being here that I'm unlikely to initiate sending a message to anyone. so if you want contact, you're going to need to make the first move. I answer frequently, and I'm usually polite/friendly... at first.

if you do message me, please *specifically* reference something in my profile or something from questions I've answered; otherwise, you will get a horse_ebooks/NightValeRadio response. not even kidding about this, folks.
