My self-summary
OkCupiders: I'm working on a story about intimacy in the online world. If you would like to talk to me for this story, please email me: amg2297@columbia.edu. My OkCupid inbox is still going to be used exclusively for dating. :)

ENFP but one of my profs just told me I was the "most obsessive person in our class." Hmm.

Born in Michigan, raised in Pittsburgh, formerly educated in Arizona, living in New York.
What I’m doing with my life
At Columbia for journalism. Writing a book. Pretending I have free time.
I’m really good at
having entire conversations in my head while I walk down the street and then realizing that I'm lost. Also, accidentally following people.
The first things people usually notice about me
a boy in college once told me that the first thing he noticed about me is that I am "very thorough." He then asked me to be his econometrics partner. It worked out decently well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books (sort of random): The Power Broker, Death and Life of Great American Cities, Handmaid's Tale, Middlesex, Waiting for Godot, Understanding Institutional Diversity, How Fiction Works, Infinite Jest, White Noise, Steppenwolf, Pride and Prejudice, The Time Traveler's Wife, A Farewell to Arms, Like the Red Panda, A Separate Peace, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, Tales of Ordinary Madness

Food: Italian, Indian, anything spicy, I love all food, can you really go wrong here? I eat a cheeseburger once a week. The fastest way to my heart is through delicious sushi and lots of sake... just saying.

Music (this list is sort of random): The Blow, Soko, Teen, Cherub, Grimes, Dirty Projectors, Wilco, The Chapin Sisters, The Xx (I know), Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins

Shows: Anything with Sherlock - I love him, and hate him, I would date him (and sort of already have) and then break up with him because he is a nightmare. The British version is better. Anyway, I met Matthew from Downton Abbey and he was a dream, but married. How devastating. We discussed his character in The Heiress and he was deep and opinionated. Downton Abbey is a brilliant show - I love shows that are rooted in economics - my major from college. I really detest Game of Thrones because it is so strategic, psychologically dull, gory and completely non-empathetic, but I can't help it - I'm roped in at this point - I am also a total sucker for fantasy/sci fi - and I just can't get Maroon Five's parody song out of my head.
The six things I could never do without
Food, love, shelter, ... what are those other essentials? Books, pedicures,.. oh wait, cross that last one out, trees - my roommmate tells me New Yorkers need on average 8 plants per room to breathe healthy air, I would be very sad to never see the ocean or a tall mountain again....hmmm - lots of money? Where do I find that?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
gentrification in a global society, online culture merging with offline culture and its relation to intimacy, mental illness, polyamory, love in general for the mobile world - these are writing topics.

I also think about how I wish I knew more about sports and sometimes about dark matter. I think a lot about how I might be a secretly a badass programmer.
On a typical Friday night I am
either trying to get R to be my friend or partying late and then sleeping late on Saturday because I'm still in my twenties and that's glorious.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I played tennis for years. I wasn't very good.

Also, I'm a mediocre cook and I often kill plants. There, those are three private things.
You should message me if
you'd like to drink and play chess.

Also, I generally like to meet creative people that I may be able to collaborate with in the future. People I could collaborate with most easily: programmers, math nerds, film makers, installation artists, possibly other writers.

Also also, I love theater but I'm really way too poor to buy tickets. This is a shameless attempt to get a non-student to invite me to a show. :)

Also also also, my "looking for" says ages 30-35. I'm generally done dating guys in their twenties. Sorry, y'all, but as a whole, you are sort of lost/have lots of issues. However, if you think you are a particularly nice, wonderful and motivated guy in your twenties, feel free to message to me.
