A knight in tarnished armor; I'm world-weary, but less cynical than I used to be. I'm idealistic, impractical, and prone to flights of fancy. Have your boarding pass ready. Physically coördinated, but a bad dancer. I'm settling in after moving halfway across the country away from California where I have lived all my life.

I am a fool for the city. Even though most of my photos are from trips out into the wilderness (which I love), I am a fan of civilisation. After living in or near various megapoleis, I'm just used to having everything at my fingertips.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm living the Buckaroo Banzai lifestyle, a research chemist during the week and an ambient and trance DJ at other times. My long-term plan is to become a university professor, but that's another post-doc stint away. I'm struggling with trying to learn Icelandic.

I’m really good at

So, I'm really good at bad puns, backrubs, organic chemistry, exiling spiders from inside without killing them, and outside-the-box thinking.

It's usually my dry wit that gets noticed. That, and I talk slowly.

These are some of my favourites that first came to mind, not an exhaustive list.

The six things I could never do without

Music, science, snuggling, maps, sweaters (I get cold easily), and nature are my essentials.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking about research problems in the back of my mind. Sometimes, I'll start thinking about environmental issues and long-term sustainability and become pessimistic. I also spend a lot of time thinking about how to put together my next DJ mix.

On a typical Friday night I am

I don't have typical Friday nights. One night might find me in lab, working late. Another might find me heading out to an underground party or somesuch. Sometimes I know in advance which it will be.
