My self-summary
I'm an early riser who likes to stay up late. I'm a sarcastic jerk with a sharp tongue who also likes to think of himself as nice.

And I'm a perfectionist who writes for a living and is pretty disgusted by the fact that he's somehow gotten himself locked in a pattern of referring to himself in the third person.

Shaking that off and dropping any pretense at artistry: I'm a liberal – a big one – and I believe firmly in doing what I can to support progressive causes. I'm a proud former member of the Obama 2012 digital team and, now that I'm back in real life, I'm trying to maintain that same sense of purpose that I felt back in Chicago.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in online communications. I like to imagine that makes me something of a modern-day Don Draper, but if I'm honest I'm actually a bit more like Peggy.
I’m really good at
Taking pictures, whistling, analyzing books and movies, reading topographical maps, fixing simple machines, and other marketable skills.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Guns of August, To The Lighthouse, City of Thieves, The History of Love

Movies: Anything by Woody Allen or Wong Kar-Wai, You and Me and Everyone We Know, Children of Men, Kill Bill (1 more than 2), Reservoir Dogs, The Good Thief, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (the latter more than the former), and Moonrise Kingdom.

Music: The National, New Pornographers (or really anything involving Neko Case), Fleet Foxes, the Smiths, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, Girltalk, Prince, tune-yards (I refuse to figure out that ridiculous capitalization), Calexico.
The six things I could never do without
My bike, a camera, good food, the change of the seasons, the outdoors, going to the movies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to do with all the veggies in my CSA share and how I can use my slowcooker more often.
On a typical Friday night I am
Is it just me or is this question just a softball opportunity either to try to make myself sound really popular or really alternative and aloof?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm afraid of birds. Mostly pigeons, but really if any bird gets too close I'll probably flinch.

This is not without cause. I've actually been hit in the head by low-flying birds on more than one occasion. Then I saw Hitchcock's The Birds. There was no turning back at that point.

Also, I was named after a female classic rock star.

You should message me if
You're just as comfortable in hiking boots as you are in a cocktail dress. You're already a bike commuter or open to me convincing you to try it. You're passionate about living and have a thing or two you think you could teach me.
