I am 26, m, gay, and single.

My Self-Summary

Ex-Berkeleyan, current Noe Valleyite. I'm a lifelong Californian with all the usual quirks (a compulsive love of the outdoors, a desperate need for long underwear once the tempertaure goes below 55, a basically unexamined but firmly held liberalism, etc.). I love languages and the process of language acquisition. I speak good Mandarin and recently returned from a fellowship year in rural China. I studied biology but for the moment pay the bills doing graphics work. I have a deeply mechanistic sense of my own personality, and generally have trouble taking my own tastes and opinions very seriously. Will post more as it comes to mind.

What I’m doing with my life

Flash graphics and animation. I love the work.

I planted a 1,000 square foot vegetable garden recently, which has been a lot of fun, even if it's something of a caricature of the place and time.

I’m really good at

Art and design, digital and analog; Chinese language and writing; getting interested in things.

The first things people usually notice about me

After being told on many, many occasions that I look like Daniel Craig (usually by strangers on MUNI; obviously too good to be true), I decided to research the question. It turns out that he and I have a subtle but nearly identical asymmetry between our left and right eyelids, and I'm pretty sure this accounts for the resemblance. I've uploaded an annotated diagram to the "Photos" section for your perusal.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The six things I could never do without

Leafy greens, IPAs, pocket-sized notebooks, $5 Mondays at the Roxie, NextMuni.com, and the Sparkletack podcast.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Tilda Swinton, Chinese etymologies.

On a typical Friday night I am

out drinking someplace. I'm partial to the Speakeasy Brewery.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I grew up with no TV access, so my media exposure during several particularly formative years came in the form of two hours a night of '40s and '50s radio drama. As a result, I've never seen "Friends" or "Seinfeld" but could tell you the plots of literally hundreds of episodes of "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar," "X Minus One," and the Jack Benny Show.

You should message me if

you're within four-ish years of my age. Best to send a message instead of IM-ing or winking.
