I am Smart, Funny, and All That.
My Self-Summary
I love
reading and
culture, and enjoy
going to plays,
concerts (usually classical), and
art. I love to
travel,
go out for good food,
[cooking] dinners at home, and
movies.
I'm a little bit of a homebody - but I enjoy going out and having a
good time. I've got great friends, and would do almost anything for
a friend in need.
What I’m doing with my life
Living la vida loca! Well, not exactly - I've got a great job, and
great friends, but it's not quite the crazy life of song. I'm
enjoying going to great dinners, traveling, taking pictures, seeing
new things, and experiencing life.
I’m really good at
I'm very good at seeing patterns, and also very empathetic.
Happily, I'm also wonderfully loyal to my friends, and I'm really
good at being a friend. I'm considerate, witty, and some people
really think I've got a great sense of humor. I'm also adaptable,
and willing to go with the flow.
The first things people usually notice about me
Most people tend to notice my eyes, my intelligence, and the fact
that I look familiar to them (I've been told that I look vaguely
like Brendan Fraser). Once they get to know me a little better,
they usually think that I'm a pretty neat person.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My favorite books are easy - pulp fiction (film noir style
detective novels), and anything by David Drake (Science Fiction and
Fantasy genre). Other than those, I love mysteries, science
fiction, and anything really well written, although I try to avoid
biographies. Movies are a mixed bag - I like the classics
(Casablanca is fabulous), comedies (including romantic comedies),
zombie films, and action films. I also have an incredibly soft spot
in my heart for really bad films - b movies are the funniest things
to watch (and sometimes make fun of!)
I adore food - great restaurants show me what can be done with
food, and I enjoy partaking. One of the worst things about being
single is it's hard to find people to go to great restaurants with
me, and dining out is way more fun with great company.
The six things I could never do without
Friendship, love, romance, kind words, good food, great books, and
companionship. Looking at the list I just typed, I realize that
most of them go together better than they do alone - it's much
better to spend an evening with a good friend, reading together,
than it is to spend it alone, even with the same book. Friends are
the spice that make life so much more worthwhile.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about the people around me, or just
random things that catch my fancy. It's fun to people-watch, but
more fun if you make up entire backstories to go along with what
you see. I'm fascinated by the way things work, and I pretty much
am willing to learn anything that I can.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either going out to dinner with friends, reading a book, watching a
movie, or working on a project of some sort. Sometimes I go hiking
or to the gym, other times I go see a movie with friends,
occasionally I get together and play board games of all things.
Usually, it's something that is as far as possible from anything I
work with during the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm very accepting of the failures of others, but refuse to allow
myself the luxury of failing.
You should message me if
You are looking for a smart, loving, compassionate man, and know
who you are. Ideally, you'd have some direction in your life, and
be willing to share your life with me.
