My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey, I'm Dave from New York City. Living in Chicago getting my MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Ceramics.

I'm a sculptor. Passionate about my art, but equally passionate about good times, good food (I cook) and the people I'm with. Interests include history, art, photography, archaeology, political science, and travel.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I do narrative ceramics; I make sculptures inspired by historical events and even more so by the people that history has forgotten, the "footnotes" of history. Through creating sculptures, I hope to bring these lost figures to life, to have them step out of the photographs, diaries and letters that form the only record of their existence and to let them reemerge in three dimensions.

Graduated college in New York with a history degree. Lived in Baltimore for a year doing a postbac at MICA, and just lived the past year in Boston. Spent my summer, working at the YMCA in NYC as an arts camp counselor. Love working with kids.

I love to travel; I have been to 21 countries and hope to visit more. My most recent trip was to India, and hoping to travel more soon.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Critical thinking, history fun facts, sculpting, cooking, (I would like to think being well read), reading other people, and being understanding.

I love to cook, especially trying out exotic recipes -- everything from frogs legs to turtle soup. As of late I have been into making my own sushi.

For books: Im always reading a book or listening to an audiobook. Mostly I like to read historical non-fiction, on a wide range of things from the Taiping Rebellion to the rise and fall of the Zulu kingdom.

TV: Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, True Detective. BBC also has a lot of great documentaries.

For music I like motown, old school blues, oldies and maybe some disco when I'm driving. Stuff with real funk or soul.

Movies in no order: Training Day, Gladiator, Gangs of New York, Star Wars Series, Wild Wild West, Goodfellas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Snatch, Fight Club, Lord of the Rings, American History x, Taxi Driver, American Psycho, Trainspotting, Natural born killers, The Departed.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

People I can talk and relate to.
True friends.
Caramelized onions.
The support and love of my family

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The mysteries of the universe.
Does Bigfoot exist?
Can everything be explained by science?

You are looking for a funny, engaging, intelligent guy. Liking art and history is always a plus. Something I consider fun would be going to a museum or an art gallery or even just walking around and exploring. Also if you want to spend the day at a library.

New to Chicago, and would love to grab a drink meet some new people and see where it goes. In my experiences I have learned to not take okcupid too seriously.
