My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Am I the only one who gets bummed out by reading a profile and thinking "whoah, this person is amazing!" And then you spend the next half hour reading their questions and the ten percent of them that are your enemy is the ten percent that hates EVERYTHING that makes you special?

I grew up in the Bay and then the valley and came to Chico in 1997 a newlywed and CSUC transfer student. In 2008 I finished my work on my Master's in English with a focus on creative writing (I also have BAs in English and in Asian Studies).

I have primary custody of my four charming, healthy and intelligent children.

I have a new gig as a literary critic for Bisexual Books! I have also been working heavily in bisexual and general LGBT politics and activism
this past year.

I am very left-wing in most aspects of politics, but I have my eccentric little nodes of conservatism. Generally, if you hate peace, women having a right to determine what happens to their bodies, women period, gays, the poor, science, reason, etc. we probably won't get along very well.

I definitely need more exercise. I would love for someone in my life who is down to work out with me, as an encouraging work out partner.

Are you still with me? You're awesome.

Myers Briggs--I am consistently INFP. If you know what that means then you'll understand I'm typically more introverted and quiet than this massive screed suggests. If I've visited your profile without messaging you, it's a safer bet I'm just being shy. Please say hi if you think you might like getting to know me.

Nerdy shit! I have played table top RPGs since my cousin AJ introduced me to D&D when I was eight years old. I still get together with friends on a Sunday afternoon, and with fiends and my elder brood on Thursday evenings and enjoy a good nerding. I also am both a Playstation and X-Box guy but I play intermittently--going weeks without playing any video games, followed by 2-3 day binges. I know more about comic books than most people have any ability to really grasp.

I love to sing. You can often find me singing at karoake in the Empire Club bar in Durham on a Saturday night.

Right now I spend a lot of my free time with my kids. They mean the world to me. But the world's growing less and less fun without some more adult companionship to go with it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Doing my best to balance multiple non-overlapping social circles, be the best dad I can be and do my best to better myself and to enjoy life as I go.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Empathizing with others, figuring out the endings to movies before the opening credits have finished rolling, being diplomatic, listening, cooking, spanks, erotic candle wax play, budgeting way too many activities into way too little time, and other things too...get to know me and decide for yourself.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have gorgeous blue eyes and the softest hair you've felt in an adult, but I'm not you so I don't know what you've noticed first.

Best book: Rather than name titles, I'll toss out a good many of the authors I read: Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, Clive Barker, Patricia Briggs, George RR Martin. . .I grew up centered on fantasy and horror fiction, but I have a basic enjoyment of most anything good. In 2012 I successfully pulled off the "50 Book Challenge."

Best movie: The Big Lebowski, My Life Without Me, Orgazmo, As Good As It Gets, Clerks 1&2, Boondock Saints, Goonies, Let the Right One In, Eternal Sunshine of hte Spotless Mind, Dear Wendy, Wristcutters: A Love Story, Moulin Rouge, Leon: the Professional, Beautiful Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, Empire Records, Stardust, the Princess Bride.

Best music: The Pixies, Queen, Nirvana, the Decemberists, Frank Turner, Matt & Kim, Blink 182, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Throwing Muses, the Lemonheads, Dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip, De La Soul, Social Distortion, the Descendents, Rise Against, Tom Petty... clearly I have a stronger connection with rock and punk, but I have soft spots for most all music.

Best food: Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Cherries, Coconut.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my kids & friends, music, a cold drink, kinksters, internet access, books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The future, with a big question mark. I think about my kids and whether I'm a good dad. I think about romance and hopes at finding someone I can enjoy our time with. I think about non-traditional families. I think about writing and improving my health and how I need to do more of both of these things. I think about candle wax, and rope, and paddles, and meteors, and what exactly I can do to survive in the zombie apocalypse. And so very much else. I think about how nice it would be to just take a break from thinking for a while.

And I think about you; I wonder what you see when you're reading me, when you're meeting me; I wonder what makes you tick.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I go out from time to time, but I mostly like to relax at home. Two Fridays per month I'm spending the night working.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I believe in ghosts and other aspects of the paranormal. It's ok if you don't.

you don't write in text speak. And, obviously, what you read here interests you.

And seriously, if you've made it through this far, SOMETHING must have interested you enough to keep going. Why not seeing what else may come?
