My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
[Insert rambling personal statement attempting to achieve the perfect balance between humility and intrigue while professing to hate and be just absolutely terrible at writing same]
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to improve every day, to not sleepwalk through life and to not be simply a cog in the machine.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
One-on-one conversation.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I look younger than what the calendar says.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Woman in White, Greek classics, Icelandic sagas, Henry James novels, biographies (especially historical), books about old wars (including ancient wars), pretty much anything in the Western canon (though I've only made my way through a small part of it), The Giving Tree (cry every time at the end), The Phantom Tollbooth, Are You My Mother, A Fly Went By, Calvin and Hobbes books

Movies: Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, Big Fish, My Dinner with Andre', Central Station, La vie en Rose, Spirited Away, Edward Scissorhands, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Music: too many to mention, but mostly rock, alternative, classical, jazz and opera. Top favorites include Jeff Buckley, Ella Fitzgerald, Radiohead, baroque music especially harpsichord, David Bowie, Lerner and Lowe musicals (what were my parents thinking they were going to produce by subjecting their son to My Fair Lady and Camelot on a loop?), Barbra Streisand, Chopin, Thelonious Monk, Gorecki's Third Symphony, Rolling Stones, Beirut, Squeeze, Antony and the Johnsons (hated it initially until brilliant show at Radio City a couple years ago), Neil Diamond, Alice in Chains, Morrissey, Nina Simone, Pulp, Rufus Wainwright, Beethoven, Haim, Sirius XMU and AltNation, Roxy Music, The Carpenters, R.E.M., Frank Sinatra, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Jose' Carreras, earlier Aimee Mann - ok this list is getting too long.

Food: chocolate, sushi, brownies (or does that fall under chocolate?), cookies (especially if filled with chocolate), hot fudge sundaes (especially with mint chip ice cream), JG Melons hamburgers with cottage fries, good wine

Television: I haven't watched much in the past few years, but some past favorites include Modern Family, Arrested Development, Planet Earth, Connections (old great British show from the 70s that shows how two seemingly completely unrelated things are actually connected), Cosmos (love Carl Sagan), Star Trek (the original), Lost in Space, The Monkees (it was great television to a 9 year old who loved music), Looney Tunes cartoons (especially Buggs Bunny) and, heh heh, Gossip Girl (gotta have one guilty pleasure tv show right?)
I finally started watching Downton Abbey and am completely obsessed with it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
(in random order)
intellectual stimulation
the arts
(Pretty hard to keep this list to six isn't it?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to fit in all the things I want to do. My grandfather worked, drove and had a girlfriend until the month before he died at 94. He was a huge influence on me.

Trying to answer the following questions: if the universe is endless, to where does it go? But if it ends, what is it contained in?

And trying to live by my favorite quote: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. (Plato)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Eating dinner with friends and/or attending something artistic/cultural
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I always order the black iphone, but I secretly lust after the white version.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You demand honesty, respect, kindness, empathy, loyalty, someone with a good work ethic, generosity, sensitivity, selflessness and a partner who demands those things back.

And if you're a little nerdy at times you get extra credit.
