My self-summary
Self summaries suck, you know that? So anyway, five words my frindes use to describe me would be responsible, intelligent, caring and wise-ass. I promise those are their words not mine. If you're into the whole myers-briggs personalities, I'd be an INTP. Sometimes I'm an INTJ, though rarely.

I'm not *obsessed* with music, but maybe I'm just fooling myself. I love discovering new music, reveling in old classics, and realizing that music I passed over fifteen years ago is actually pretty damn awesome.

I enjoy games of almost all sorts, video games, board games, roleplaying games. I love the outdoors, and keep meaning to do more hiking and camping, but never feel like I do enough.

I'm a vicious infovore, few things make me happier than learning something new (except maybe a new set of LEGOs or discovering an awesome band). As such, I'm open to new things, but I might need some pushing to get there. This sometimes leads my friends to drag me out, if somewhat unwillingly, to try new things.
What I’m doing with my life
I help out with IT work for Norwescon. I used to write mods for World of Warcraft, but now I write mods for Minecraft. I'm also working on a javascript based offline web app Dominion deck randomizer. Yeah, I program a lot, it's kind of what I do.

When it comes to work. By day, I'm a not-precisely-mild-mannered software engineer. (Ok, technically I do PHP Web Application Development, but I'm desperately trying to focus more on the back-end/server side PHP framework code and less on the front-end html/css. The last thing I want to be is a css-jukie.
I’m really good at
Listening.
Being snarky.
Programming (when I'm not daydreaming of The Next Big Thing™ to develop).
Procrastinating (usually the above).
Making awful jokes (though sadly, puns prove difficult for me).
Making White Russians.
Drinking Gin and Tonic.
Playing awesome Board Games (Agricola, Dominion, Race for the Galaxy, 7 wonders).
Daydreaming.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm quiet, reserved, and not much for small talk. Unless I've had a few drinks, or am with good friends.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The problem is that there's so much I like that I don't think I could remember it all, let alone list it here.

Anything by Douglas Adams, William Gibson, Neil Gaiman, or Neil Stephenson. The Wheel of Time series is a (somewhat embarrassing) favorite. "An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding" is one of my favorite Philosophy works.

A handful of movies I'm fond of: Sneakers, Hackers, Pi, Chasing Amy, H2G2, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lost in Translation, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Pirates of Silicon Valley, Sideways, Garden State, Hudson Hawk, Serenity, Raiders of the Lost Arc, M.A.S.H

There's a lot of good television, and even more bad, I tend to enjoy good science fiction series'. Some relative "classics" I'm fond of are Babylon 5, Farscape, Daria, Firefly, Robotech/Macross. Lately I've been really into Doctor Who, Eureka, Leverage, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother.

Anything (practically). Discovering new artists/bands is like getting a new set of LEGOs (and I LOVE Lego). A few of my perennial favorites are: Natalie Merchant, The Weakerthans, Queen, Rush, The Get Up Kids, TMBG, Guster. http://www.last.fm/user/duaiwe/charts

Food: Pasta is always a favorite (Lasagna or Manicotti), though I've become quite fond of Phở. Well made tacos are divine.
The six things I could never do without
The internet. A computer to use it with. Music. A Towel. My Imagination. Wit (wait, no, I've done without that this long, I guess I don't really need it). Recursion. The six things I could never do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next awesome software project.
Game design, philosophy, ethics, and other lofty things that rarely go farther than some half-thought-through internal monologs.

Why the rest of the world is so frustratingly stupid.
What book to read next.
A better way to do.. everything.
On a typical Friday night I am
These days none of my friday nights are typical. D&D, going out drinking, having friends over for rock band, board gaming, video gaming, catching up on television, or reading a book. Whatever comes up, or inspires me at the time. I am hitting that phase in my life where Friday nights are filled with socializing with my friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Anything I'm willing to admit isn't private, and anything private I wouldn't tell someone I probably don't even know yet. But, let's try and play this game anyway: I secretly really like Avril Lavigne and Creed. I'm really ashamed of this.

Also, I have a probably-unhealthy obsession with 'We Didn't Start the Fire', by Billy Joel. I'm *not* ashamed of this.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 24–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
You'd like to geek out around someone, feel like playing some board games, are going to PAX, or just want someone to be sarcastic and/or make terrible jokes.
