My Self-Summary

I honestly wish I could leave this section blank, because I feel the sections below describe me much better than I could in a self summary.

I'm working part-time and going to school at CSN. I lived in Portland, Oregon, for about a year and a half but moved back in with my parents last year for the sake of my health. Not a bad deal - no rent, free car. Right now I'm mostly working on my savings to move back up north so I can rebuild my independence.

I feel as though Vegas is limbo for me, so I'm just trying to get through as much school as I can while I'm here.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working full-time and going to school.

I’m really good at

Computers. I run two flavors of Linux on my second laptop and desktop, I've taken programming classes and am currently building robots in school.

Finances. I don't balance my own checkbook (don't tell anyone) but my job requires that I coach others on the subject. I took accounting but hated it.

The first things people usually notice about me

Two things, I've been told: My height and my blue eyes. I'm 5'8" with flats and 5'10" with heels.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - Back in the day (ages 15 - 20, let's say) I read everything in sight. Literally. I worked in a library for a couple of years and it was actually quite a painful experience, because I could never read it all fast enough. As soon as I finished one book, ten more would be added to my To Read list, everything from Homer and Plutarch to Philip Roth and Neil Gaiman. It eventually became too exhausting and I had to cut back. Nowadays I mostly read science fiction/fantasy and science non-fiction, along with things like Discover magazine, PhysOrg.com and slashdot.

Movies - Leon: The Professional, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Hard Candy, American Psycho, Silence of the Lambs. Anything with a lovable nutjob.

Music - Carcass, Melechesh, Monolith Deathcult, Absu, At the Gates, Dawn, Emperor, Windir, Gorgoroth, etc. I also listen to a fair amount of industrial/darkwave. I have a last.fm account by request.

Food - Italian/Mediterranean. Pasta and pizza, basically. If it's full of carbs, I'll love it. Good olive oil is the secret to everything.

The six things I could never do without

My laptop, carbs, a room full of books, the night sky, winter, metal.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My future, how to plan my day, the order of the universe and the spinning of electrons.

On a typical Friday night I am

In bed early because I have Saturday classes in the morning.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

... I'm a natural blonde. Don't tell anyone, I prefer to say I'm brunette.

You should message me if

First off, I want to say that I'm just out of a relationship that I feel progressed too quickly, so at the moment I'm mostly interested in being friends. My ideal first date would be that it's not technically a "date" in the first place. I don't have too many folks that I can just hang out with on any given night without expecting something of it. I want things to progress naturally rather than have someone try and "court" me right off the bat, especially since my plans are to leave Vegas ASAP. So message me if you're okay with being friends for now.

I like strong, confident people because it brings out those qualities in myself. I'm quiet by nature but prefer outgoing folks because I can learn from them.
