I am nerdy, a reader, and laid back.
My Self-Summary
People call me Bill. Actually people call me a lot of things but
Bill is my name. I'm currently employed as a Network Administrator.
Thats right, im a computer nerd. When I'm not doing that, I go to
school, play some
video games with friends, or just
hang about and do nothing. I do a bit of freelance tech work to
support my lavish lifestyle (or to pay for gas, whatever) and every
once and then I've been known to design a website (though I'm
rather bad at it). Wow, with such a crap description I don't think
I even like myself. I swear I'm more interesting than all
that.
I consider myself an all-purpose
nerd. That meaning I enjoy knowledge in all
fields I can get. Math, History, Biology, Sociology, Psychology,
Philosophy, Geology, Musical Theory, Film Production, you name it.
If I don't know at least something about a particular subject I'm
usually interested in hearing about it. Also, I may not be
particularly religious but I like to consider myself somewhat
knowledgeable about Christianity (being raised such) and some other
religions to a lesser extent. I greatly enjoy any halfway
intelligent conversation on just about any topic.
Oh yes, I don't take life very seriously for the most part, so
unless stated otherwise, I'm usually trying to be funny. That being
said, If I am not joking, I tend to mean the things I say, exactly
as I say them. It doesn't mesh with some people, but I use the
exact (aka - honest) words I mean when I talk. I'm not implying
anything, I'm not insinuating anything. If you ask me a question, I
will give my real answer, so be ready for that.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently working toward my degree in Network Administration so I
can dump this crap job and get a better one. The company I work for
has many perks, like being able to come to work completely drunk
(my coworkers, not me) 3 hours late and not get in trouble for
it... but they don't pay particularly well.
Outside of work and school, I'm trying to fix up my house. Living
alone and not having a lot of money or skill with carpentry makes
this a long task.
New Addition: I'm restoring/rebuilding a 1976 Honda CB550
motorcycle. I can't ride it all the time obviously with Michigan
weather, but itll be nice when I can.
I’m really good at
I can type fast (122wpm at last test). I spell well. I'm good at
hitting myself in the head on accident with random objects. I'm
good at receiving bad news. I'm exceptionally skilled at making
people really uncomfortable. I can say almost any ridiculous thing
with a completely straight face.
In all seriousness I've been told I'm good at making people laugh
or smile, improving the general mood they may be in. I'm good at
building/fixing computers. I don't know if I'm "really" good at it,
but I bowl rather well. I bowled 299 twice. After 20 years
experience I can keep my average around 200. I'm good at having
some obscure quote or reference to meet just about any situation.
If my reference of choice doesn't work I'm good at bullshitting so
long you will think it does.
I've played my share of
Guitar Hero. And your share. And
your relatives shares. I have beaten every song on expert, though
not 5* yet.
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically? Hard to say, I don't get people coming up and shouting,
"What the hell is that on your face?" or anything. I tend to wear
T-Shirts that get questions, things like "Kill Whitey" for
instance. Personality wise, I don't (at first appearance) take
anything too seriously.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books -
Harry
Potter, Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, most any fantasy
fiction novels, also Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Stephen King...
many others. Unlike most fantasy fans I would rather stab my own
eyes out with something rusty than read Tolkien again. There are
actually quite a few excellent authors in the world of fan fiction
(and many terrible ones). Check it out.
Movies - Harry Potter, Shawshank, Idiocracy, Any Kevin Smith film,
just about anything with Brad Pitt or Hugh Grant... Why couldn't
they do a movie together?
Music - Mostly Punk, some Metal/Rock, and a dab of anything else if
it strikes my fancy. Lately Dethklok, Primus, Megadeth, the
Vandals, and Harry Chapin.
Food - I'm trying to stay healthy now... lowering intake of red
meat, saturated fat, complex carbohydrates, and sugar. Been eating
a lot of whole grains, lean white meats, and more veggies/fruit
than ever before. Turkey chili is a favorite.
The six things I could never do without
There are very few objects that mean that much to me, Ideas seem
too abstract, and people are a personal matter. There are people
I'd kill or die for without thinking twice. With the right friends
around, there is nothing I couldn't do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If I will accomplish any of the things I really want to. Also
something to the effect of "Why am I bleeding?", but possibly
worded differently.
Sometimes I spend a bit of time wondering if the people you hear
about on the news (for whatever idiotic reasons) truly are
representative of the world today or if they are the very worst
extremes. I hope the latter.
On a typical Friday night I am
The last few weeks I've been either working on my motorcycle or
just relaxing with some friends. Also occasionally bowling.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'll give two. One, I really really dig romantic comedies in
general, and those with Hugh Grant to an irrational level.
Seriously, I'm a big fan of fluffy romance. Second, I have a hard
time spreading things on bread. Like, I'm physically incapable of
putting jelly on bread and not looking like I'm handicapped while
doing it. No idea why.
You should message me if
You have 5 minutes to spare and want some halfway interesting
conversation. Even if you end up hating me, it'll probably be the
most interesting story about why you hate someone ever. Also if you
plan to actually reply to anything I send back. For some reason
people don't do this. Even FUCK OFF! is a better reply then
nothing, I know where I stand then.
