My Self-Summary
So I really suck at these kinds of things. I'm mostly on here to
meet new people for friends, and then see what happens from there.
I'm in the cities for about another 7 to 10 months, and then I'm
going to (hopefully) either DC area or California for my PhD. I'm
not sure if I have the time or energy at the moment to find The
One, but I'll just see what falls into my lap, so to speak.
So, the facts are these: I'm in my senior year at the U of M: Twin Cities, studying Linguistics. I love it too much, and am quite the languages and linguistics geek. I'm also into some of the usual geek fair, particularly computers, video games, comic books, and trading card games. Though, I'd like to think that I have at least rudimentary social skills, and I definitely like to try new things and go out of my comfort zone. I'd like to think I'm funny, and I'm pretty into anything that makes me laugh.

What I’m doing with my life
I have a job working on automatic measures using language to
diagnose and predict chances of neural disorders, particularly
dementia. Apart from that, I'm a full-time student in linguistics
looking to go for my Ph.D., possibly somewhere in California. I
have a strong passion for eastern South Asia, and am planning on
spending a fair amount of time there as well.
Failing that, I'd like to be a vampire slayer or an astronaut.

I’m really good at
Doing the things that I do, thinking, and talking about abstract
shit. Also occasionally I'm good at drinking and sometimes I'm good
at watching TV too? I have impeccable spelling and won spelling
bees when I was a kid. Also like I said before, I also think I have
a relatively okay sense of humor, so there's that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've gotten compliments on my smile and on my laugh. I think of my
laugh as something the Joker/Chucky/hyena-ish, but I've been
complimented on it a number of times. I love to laugh, and I love
to laugh hard and heartily, so it's noticeable.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Although I consider myself non-religious, I'm actually really fond
of religious rhetoric, theology, and mythology, and I find
myself reading lots of that. I also read linguistics and cognitive science
textbooks FOR FUN in my free time, and read generally lots of
non-fiction.
I'm really into horror comedy movies. I'm a big fan of the ridiculous and the obscene, which are both embodied in that. I'm not a fan of pretentiousness, so that makes that genre of film also a good fit. I also like the silliness of Bollywood movies sometimes.
My favorite music is really scattered, and I like to think I'm more of a band-savvy person than a genre-savvy person. But if I had to classify as such, it'd probably be primarily 80's, European Spanish pop/rock, Finnish folk, and Bollywood. My all time musical idol is Kate Bush.
I'm a sucker for Indian and Chinese food, and frankly it makes up a pretty shocking percentage of my diet.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Umm. I'm a huge sucker for romance, and I'm probably not too
difficult to woo. The sexiest thing a man can do is make me laugh a
lot. The second sexiest things a man can do is to have an opinion,
to want to debate me about things, or to listen to me geek out.
