witty, dry, and ridiculous
My self-summary Propose an edit
I love reading and writing, playing music, seeing movies,
traveling around and taking pictures. I'm probably considered
quiet, but that's less because I'm shy and more because I just
don't think there's a lot really worth saying (especially not the
things I think of, anyway!).
There are only a handful of things I take very seriously in life.
My faith (not
religion! faith) happens to be one of them. That doesn't mean I
won't make fun of it, though...my sarcasm is pretty much limitless.
As long as people know I'm just being my standard ridiculous self,
I will crack a dry remark about anything I can possibly get a
reaction out of.
I think it's important to note that the pursuit of "Truth" with a capital T is
probably the singly most important drive in my life. With that
said, I'm super open to new ideas and worldviews, and frequently
engage in challenging (and refining where necessary) my own. People
who think they have the world figured out bother me. I truly
believe that Truth IS out there, but it's no easy task to find -
hard enough, in fact, that anyone who says they have all the
answers (with or without the aid of religious texts) just come
across as arrogant and naive to me. In that sense, I can highly
identify (though not completely agree) with agnostics.
Now, with all that philosophy bopping around in my brain, I'd like
to point out that I'm actually very light-hearted, I swear. :) I.e.,
if you talk to me, don't expect the conversation to be dominated by
philosophical debates. :)
All in all, I think I'm a pretty awesome person in my own eyes, and
pretty boring in everyone else's. I suppose that's okay...I'd
rather entertain myself and bore others than entertain others and
bore myself. :)
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I work for a company who makes and sells internet marketing
applications to marketing agencies and printing houses. My specific
title is "Professional Services". Essentially, I head the
department responsible for building custom, marketing-oriented
webpages for our clients.
Other than that...I love to write, and have a handful of short
stories, poems, and children's books I really need to get around to
publishing one day. I have no intention of leaving the company I
work for, but there's no better hobby than one you get paid for,
right?
EDITORS
I'm really good at Propose an edit
1) respectable spatial awareness/spatial intelligence.
2) "good hands" (so I was told by my old boss when I used to build
guitars)
3) seeing how things work, and consequently why they sometimes
don't
4) working within given parameters to find a workable
solution
5) generally a quick learner
What I'm really BAD at:
1) taking a step back
2) relating on an emotional level before an intellectual one
3) putting unfinished things aside
4) keeping in touch with anyone other than those I can see face to
face
5) washing my car consistently
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I tend to use big words when writing, but sound like a typical kid
when talking in person. Maybe they notice that dichotomy. Who
knows. No one ever tells me what they notice about me.
I used to get a lot of "My God! You look like Edward Norton..."
(which, by the way, I never really took as a compliment. If I were
gay, Edward Norton would NOT be on my top ten list), but then I
shaved off the goatee.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
a) the Dune series,
Chuck
Palahniuk books, classics (The Count of Monte Cristo and
The Epic
of Gilgamesh), William Gibson books, The Dark Tower
series by Stephen King
b) CQ, Snatch, Fight Club, A Scanner Darkly, Narc, Basic, Closer, Children of Men, Payback
c) lots of stuff. lots. Radiohead and Fiona Apple are way up there,
though. The
Rentals, The Postal Service, Secret Machines,
Led Zeppelin,
Wolfmother,
Yes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs,
The Shins,
The Strokes,
Muse, Coheed and
Cambria, John Coltraine, Dave Brubeck, Doug Smith, Peter Finger...it just keeps
going.
d) anything but raw fish and Ethiopian. **EDIT** Raw fish can be
REALLY good. Just not raw tuna. Ethiopian still sucks. Sorry.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Six?! What happened to just five?!
1) my computer 2) money 3) my phone 4) my car 5) music 6) my
bed
EDIT: I broke my phone a while back, and realized I was quite happy
without it. I've therefore decided to update this list.
1) my bed. I do so love it. Sleeping on the gound would suck.
2) music. I'm ALWAYS listening to something musical (although I
admit sometimes I listen to my favorite books on tape when I can't
read them - e.g. when I'm driving).
3) my car. Dear God, how miserable I'd be without the freedom to
travel independently!
4) discourse. First off, I'd be lonely without it. Secondly, it's
my favorite and most exciting form of learning.
5) passion! Others' passion affects me in passionate ways. I don't
really have any friends who aren't passionate about at least one
thing in their life. Art, learning, changing the world...I live for
these things.
6) quiet time. My mind is too cluttered to function without some
downtime to myself.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Work. It sucks, but I don't have a choice. The company gave me a
laptop for a reason: so they could spontaneously call me after
hours and guilt me into doing work late at night.
Philosophy. I'm
a loser like that. I honestly think it has bettered my life,
though.
Stories to write. It's a hobby, and I'd love to get published one
day.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
These days? Either seeing a movie or catching up on all the sleep I
missed during the work week.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
Ooh, here's a good one: despite the fact that I am 25 years old,
the "25" in my login name is not referring to my age. In fact, I
created this account when I was still 24. I just really, really
like the number 25.
There. You caught me. Don't tell my parents.
Also, I really hope I don't come off as super stuffy. My biggest
joys in life are being goofy and saying things that make my mom
shake her head at me. I want to meet someone with the same goals in
life. :P
You should message me if Propose an edit
You'd like to talk. Honestly.
Also, if you happen to be an independent-minded rebel in your own
way, who has developed a unique personal sense of style and likes
to talk about philosophy and religion, that would be a HUGE plus.
