I am ebullient, adoring, and loquacious.

My Self-Summary

Starry-eyed but smart as a whip. (Mmmm, whip...!) Addicted to books, kissing, and admiring all things beautiful. (Okay, and e-mail.) Tastes in music, art, literature, etc. etc., vary wildly, so don't ask if you don't want an earful.

Originally from Kentucky, by way of eight years of education in Ohio.

I have a powerful intellectual (history, science, psychology, art, politics) interest in all things sexual. I'm talkative as all get out, but also a decent listener and reliable friend (on my good days). Sweet, sensitive, and saucy. Also hyperactive, loud and clumsy. Full of more dreams and ambitions than I can ever hope to fulfill.

I am married to lilyofthewest, my lovely wife of some years. I am also lucky enough to have a wonderful long-distance girlfriend (V_is_for), and a much-adored submissive (watersong73). We are polyamorous. My romantic and sexual dance card is full right now -- you could say I'm poly-saturated. Two of my aforementioned partners, however, are on the dating market, so maybe you should message them.

What I’m doing with my life

Working at a progressive legal non-profit. Trying to fashion myself into a badass queer activist attorney.

I’m really good at

Reading. Writing. Making people feel loved. Getting sweaty, dirty, scraped, bruised and disheveled. Spanking. Making omelettes. Reading aloud. Making messes. Fidgeting. Cuddling.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm talking too loudly. That I'm making eyes at them. That I'm saying something outrageous. That I leap and climb up, down and over things. On some occasions, that I'm scantily dressed. My long, luscious hair.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books I read a lot: anything I can get my hands on. Favorite topics are gender and sexuality (see above) as well as history generally, especially social history. Of late I've been on a religious history binge. Favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Jeanette Winterson, William Faulkner, Sarah Waters, Alan Moore, Ursula K. LeGuin, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Orwell, Robert Charles Wilson, and the British Romantics. Also, I read a lot of comics; lately I've been reading the work of Alison Bechdel, Jessica Abel, Brian K. Vaughan, Craig Thompson, Ariel Schrag and Guy Delisle.

The most recent books I've read are: Sabriel by Garth Nix, The Portrait by Iain Pears, and Virgin: The Untouched History by Hanne Blank.

Movies Again, varies widely, but I have a weakness for thoughtful science fiction, serious dramas, documentaries, and queer romance. Favorite movies I've seen in the last few months: Cabaret, Drifting Flowers, and Mongol.

Music Don't get me started; you'd be hard-pressed to name a genre that I don't like some of. Lately I've been listening to the Dresden Dolls, Regina Spektor, and Erin McKeown. Also, I have a newfound addiction to Pandora Radio, and have been listening to a lot of contemporary classical music as I pound away at my latest legal opus.

Foods I'm vegetarian. Beyond that, I like to vary my cuisine, but it tends heavily toward Thai, Indian, Mexican, cheesecake, chocolate, and chocolate cheesecake.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Literature. Eating. Law reform. Kissing. Music. BDSM (I am a switch, though I am dominant in my current relationships). That fickle little bitch romance.

On a typical Friday night I am

Pestering lilyofthewest to go out and do something exciting with me, then (having failed at that) watching a movie, turning in earlier than I would prefer, and reading while she snoozes. Or, having read-aloud time over the phone with my V_is_for. Or, going to a play party.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I not infrequently find myself disappointed when friends aren't interested in having sex, and when hook-ups aren't interested in being friends -- but this doesn't stop me from making new friends, or from sleeping around. (This is much less true at present than it used to be, though.)

I shamelessly check out strangers and eat off of my friends' plates.

You should message me if

...you are a caring and reliable friend, and can deal with my sometimes over-the-top flirtations.

A command of language is a huge turn-on; conversely, failure to use full sentences, punctuation, and some effort toward correct spelling is a huge turn-off.

I feel that the Internet is a fine way to meet people but a mediocre-to-poor way to actually get to know them. This means I am primarily interested in talking to people I can meet, secondarily interested in long-distance friendships extending to phone and snail mail, and rarely if ever interested in interactions that never stray from the Internet.

If you're a guy who thinks I'm hot -- forget about it. Sorry, fellows, I'm a ho-mo-sexual. Oh, and don't contact me on behalf of your girlfriend ... I go for women who can speak for themselves.

Finally, my spouse works at an abortion clinic. If you have a problem with that, don't bother contacting me.
