Probably bored, if I'm online, and you should say 'Hi'
My self-summary Propose an edit
I can be stubborn, sarcastic, and sensitive, but I'm also
relatively intelligent, occasionally funny, and
I have a big
heart. I'm almost always curious, sometimes to the point of being
nosy, but I like to think it's because I love learning new things and I care
about people. Well, at least that's what I tell myself... I also
love to laugh and
goof around. I'm a little bit granola, so if you're not into chicks
that dig the environment, I'm probably not your gal.
I like lots of dorky things, like history and board or card games (Clue,
Monopoly, Euchre) and...I can't think of anything else right now,
but I just wanted to warn you ahead of time in case you somehow got
the false impression that I'm really hip or something.
I'm here to talk to new people and maybe make a friend or two, but I'm open to more
if something comes along.
I really wish OkCupid would allow for a choice of more than just
three sexual orientation labels. If you'd like to know what my
preference is, just ask.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Well, I've got my degree in art history, but I don't seem to be
qualified for very many jobs. I've got a part-time job at the local
art museum, but
I only get very limited hours, so I'm trying my best to find
something more substantial. I'm considering grad school b/c I'm
getting weary w/ the job hunt, but there would be a few obstacles
to overcome if I decided to go that route.
Other than that, I've been trying to stay active and keep my chin
up, but it comes and goes in waves.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm capable of being a decent artist and sometimes I'm able to
write well. I try my
best to be a good person and a good friend, too. Sometimes I'm good
w/ trivia, especially questions related to pop culture, so I like
watching Jeopardy!
Some less marketable skills that I'm "good" at: procrastinating,
indulging my neurotic tendencies, staying up too late for no
reason.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I suppose that depends on who you ask. Hopefully when people meet
me for the first time they notice that I'm friendly and that I'm not too
disheveled.
Je suis affecteuse, et, de temps en temps, je suis amusante.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Books: I haven't
been reading, or at least finishing, a lot of books lately. I've
mostly been checking out magazines and newspapers, like the Toledo City Paper.
David
Sedaris is one of my favorite authors, though.
Movies: From
Amélie to
Zoolander and
everything in between. I'm willing to watch almost anything, even
if I have a feeling it's not going to be of very high quality.
Sometimes I like those "so bad it's good" sort of flicks.
TV: There are a few
shows that I like to watch every week, like Project Runway (when it's on) or
House. Then there
are other shows that can't always seem to catch, like It's Always
Sunny in Philadelphia, Dexter, my favorite Adult Swim shows, or CBS Sunday
Morning (I'm not always up to watch it).
Music: Nearly
everything, from The Beatles to Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I even
like some country. (Gasp!) Some artists that are usually in heavy
rotation on my MP3 player: The Silent Years, M.I.A., Damien Rice. When I'm
not listening to music in the car, or even at home, I like to
listen to NPR.
Food: I'm not big on
most Mediterranean food (Greek, Lebanese), but I do enjoy a few
things from that region, like hummus. I'm a big fan of Italian, Mexican, Asian cuisine (or at least
what I know of as Asian cuisine), Indian, and even "American." I'm so cultured...
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Loved ones (friends, family, and pets); music (that may be a no-no for
someone w/ an art history degree to admit, but it impacts me the
most on a daily basis); food and everything that comes with it
(cooking,
culture, etc.);
the Internet; the public library; and laughter.
This is totally cheating, but I have to admit, as materialistic
sounds, I would be a little lost w/o my car. It would be difficult
to get around this city w/o a car, so I really appreciate the
independence it gives me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Well, I spend a lot of time thinking about all the stuff in the
"What I'm doing with my life" section, and then some. My mind is
almost always going, so I think about a lot of things; some
significant, most not.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Sometimes I'm lucky enough to work on Friday nights. (I'm happy to
get the hours b/c I need the money. Plus, it's usually a lot of
fun.) Some Friday nights, I stay in and watch a movie or TV. Then
there are the occasional Friday nights when I hang out with friends
and do fun stuff.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I use a tongue scraper, but I have to be careful w/ it b/c my gag
reflex is pretty sensitive (insert dirty joke here). I'm allergic
to the adhesive used in bandages. I still live with my parents...
I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of anything else right
now.
My point is that I'm pretty open about most things, including my
life. I figure I might as well be honest upfront b/c
misrepresenting myself now would only lead to disappointment in the
future. Not too much is sacred in my book, although I am shy about
certain topics.
