I am ambitious, lazy, and contradictory.

My Self-Summary

I am a Philosophy Ph.D student at UT.

I watch too much TV, but that's mainly my DVR's fault. Here are some shows I like: The Practice, Seinfeld, Curb, The Office (American version), Star Trek: TNG, News Radio.

I'm often sarcastic and irreverant. Not much offends me, but some things make me mad. Here are some of them: creationism, Sean Hannity, bad driving, homophobia, press secretaries.

I have a cat that looks like it's been cross-bred with a rabbit.

Here are some characteristics I like in other people: curiosity, intelligence, loyalty, considerateness, non-flakiness, immaturity (the good kind).

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to become a philosophy professor.

I’m really good at

Poker, ping pong, procrastinating, alliteration, golf, parking on UT campus, getting parking tickets.

Also, as a philosopher (yes, that's what we call ourselves) I'm good at thinking; so if there's something you need thought about, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I don't read much non-academic stuff.

Movies: True Romance, American Beauty, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Braveheart, Kill Bill(s), The 40 Year-old Virgin (and all other Apatow stuff), Office Space, Borat, The Secret of Nimh.

Music: Pink Floyd, Bad Religion, various electronic stuff I don't know the name of, anything that rocks, anything that makes me feel at one with the universe.

Food: Sushi, Indian, anything expensive.

The six things I could never do without

"never" is a bit of an exaggeration...but, in no particular order:

TV
cat
critical thought
infantile humor
take-out
AC

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends, talking about really stupid stuff, really important stuff, and/or yelling at each other.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a man-crush on Barack Obama.

UPDATE: My feelings towards Obama are starting to fade, for various reasons -- he better do something to make it up to me...

You should message me if

I really don't have any specific criteria...if you want to do so, I say go for it.
