My self-summary
When I was younger, I'd imagine I was adopted. This was aided by the fact that I really looked more like the mailman than either of my parents, but either my parents have kept the lie going really well, or I was wrong.

Love cracking jokes, love it even more when the situation is serious. Ethnicity is "Other" because "Mutt" isn't available.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a tax firm (on sabbatical until early August.) Aside from that, I do a bit of freelance writing, which is pretty enjoyable, and I'm experimenting with Sriracha on the theory that it truly does go well with any food. Experiment number 131: breakfast cereal.
I’m really good at
Imagining new things, jokes, designs...all of them novel, if not useful. I also love to sing, though I haven't been part of an organized group since college. I want to learn more about cooking, that's the next thing I'd like to say "I'm really good at...". As of right now, I'm kinda bad at it, unless it involves bacon, in which case I'm a wizard, Harry.
The first things people usually notice about me
Curly hair and long eyelashes, I've been told, are the most readily apparent, followed by my smile and attitude. People tend to like me and open up to me pretty quickly, because, as they say, I make them feel like I'm interested. The trick is, I really AM interested! People are interesting if you can get them to open up.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Queen, Mos Def, David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, Dragonforce, Daft Punk, Hans Zimmer, Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath, Muse, The Black Keys, Jay-Z and Kanye, Garfunkel and Oates, The Who, Tom Jones, Tenacious D, The Rolling Stones. There are too many others to list, suffice it to say that if its music there's a good chance I like it.

Books: The Dresden Files, To Kill a Mockingbird, World War Z, Harry Potter, and almost the entire Discworld series, as well as almost anything by Neil Gaiman or Christopher Moore.

Movies: Clerks, Clerks II, The Princess Bride, Super Troopers, Shawn of the Dead, Mask of the Phantasm, Star Wars 3-6, To Kill a Mockingbird, Do the Right Thing, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Stardust, Good Night and Good Luck, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Milk, The Nuremburg Trials, Gran Torino, The Iron Giant, The Avengers, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Love Actually, and too many others to list. I like movies a lot.

Television: The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park, Firefly, The Boondocks, The West Wing, 30 Rock, Cowboy Bebop, Doctor Who, Torchwood, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Californication, Parks and Recreation, and my favorite, Community. If you're not watching Game of Thrones, then WHY aren't you?

Food: I could probably survive permanently on Pizza, but I like to throw some veggies in every once in a while, and some steamed chicken. Sushi is brilliant, of course, but I like American as well. Not picky, is what I'm saying.
The six things I could never do without
My laptop, first and foremost. I have a definite techno-addiction, which I will readily cop to. My phone has only compounded this problem.

Netflix, the greatest service of all time, including the USPS, police and fire services, anything else you can think of.

Comfy pillows - you never know how important they are until you have to sleep on a bad set.

Other people - some people say hell is other people, but I tend to disagree, hell is their absence.

Coffee...especially on those really rough mornings. (Every morning. Two cups...on the good days.)

Goals! Need them to know what to strive for.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people are the way they are, and where I'm going, and what I can be doing better. Maybe it sounds too earnest, but I honestly think that we all have a duty to ensure that the world is a better place than it was when we came into it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably out with friends! That said, there are Friday nights when I want to do nothing but relax and just watch a movie, and there are some where I'll go to the gym for a few hours just so I'm not sitting down.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hahahahaha NOPE. Pretty sneaky, there, internet.
You should message me if
Message me if you want to talk to a guy who, if nothing else, will be memorable to talk with. What I'm looking for is to get to know someone and hopefully have something grow out of that.
