I'm re-writing this, hopefully will have a new about me section in a few days.....

I graduated from UF with a degree in physics and moved to Okemos for a job at the Cyclotron Lab at MSU. I don't know many people in the area so I'm hoping to meet some cool people through the internet.
I'm a pretty nerdy fellow, I like to play video games, read books, read about science, etc. Most people tell me I'm nice, I think so too, but really that's for you to decide. I'm a bug fan of coffee (can't go more than a day without it), so if you know of a place that isn't Starbucks or Bigby I would love to hear about it. I also trying new beers so if you know of any good bars in the area that would be great.
I was in band in middle and high school and played three different types of clarinet, the bagpipes and bass guitar. My "hometown" has a big Scottish influence, so I was able to wear a kilt for six years. Kilts are great.
Politically I'm pretty liberal, but unless you ask, I'll try not to say too much about it.

After a year in the area and too much procrastination, I am just starting to explore Lansing and the rest of Michigan. If you know of anything interesting, something I just have to see/experience, crazy or wild, or want to show me around, message me. I haven't done anything in the snow in years, so if you want to do something fun outdoors I'm down!

After a horrible winter (stupid SAD and depression) I'm getting around to putting my life back in order which includes:
Studying for the physics GRE, wanting to go to grad school next year.
I just bought a clarinet, so relearning how to play.
Exercising. Nothing serious, just wanting to get into better shape.

Cooking (well, following a recipe I find) and baking (mostly breads). Laughing. A boss has commented that I laugh too much, but what can I say, I'm easily amused. Wasting time on the interwebs.

People always notice my height and my glasses. I like to smile a lot as well. I used to have long hair, but I cut that off in January for Locks of Love.

Books: Tuesdays with Morrie, Johnny Got His Gun, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, Catcher in the Rye, Catch 22, Pale Blue Dot, The Kite Runner, Walden, Night, Wizard's First Rule Series (just finished the series), Timothy Zahn's books and a bunch more.

Music: the Beatles, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Primus, Dream Theater, Metallica, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Damien Rice, most '90's music, Lupe Fiasco, Between the Buried and me, Daft Punk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lupe Fiasco, the Marley family, Steppenwolf, Psychedelic rock, SMV, and a lot more. Pretty much anything that isn't country or gospel.

TV/Movies: Futurama, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Daily Show, Family Guy, American Dad, Eureka, Bones, Adventure Time, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing along Blog, Zombieland, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Fifth Element, Men in Black, all the 90's tv shows from my childhood. I have a huge and eclectic collection of movies, tv shows and music.

Shift starts again, so I'll either be recovering from a work week, or just about to go into work. Two 12 hour weekend shifts every other week ftw!
Hopefully something more fun when I got back to day shifts at the start of July.

I'm a horrible singer/dancer but am always doing those two things when listening to music at home.
