I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where to move to. No offense Michigan, you're beautiful and all, but if I'm honest, I've never felt like you were home. Don't get me wrong, I love the feeling that comes when springs finally arrives. I feel reborn. Unleashed from the confines of your bitterly cold and wet wintry months. I can finally shed the weight from all the excess clothing, park the car, and commute by bike. I long for your hot summer days, trips to the beach, adventures, and the enjoyment of drinking some the best craft beer on a patio downtown. And there's no better feeling than when the year starts coming to a closure and fall rolls in. The beauty of your autumn leaves is matched by the vibrancy of peoples clothing. People seem to be their happiest, most content at this time of year. It's like they're trying to expel the last bit of energy they have before they retreat back to their boxes and hibernate for the next few months.

But as each year passes I'm left feeling a bit unfulfilled. Maybe it's just your bleak winter months. Not that the cold bothers me too much, it's just impossible not to notice the somber attitudes of my peers. The same peers that cavil at your hot and humid summers, object to your cold winters...I don't get it. Maybe it's not you I'm moving away from, Michigan, maybe it's my peers. Maybe I'm searching for my niche. A place that fits my lifestyle with people who appreciate the same things I appreciate. Maybe that's why I'm here.
