I am hard working, hard playing guy, and very amusing..
My Self-Summary
Hi. My name is Bill and I live in Berkeley. I am 50 years old and
live part time with my wonderful 17 year old daughter. She is
incredibly special to me and I am very much a doting dad. I work in
a
biotech
company, but, importantly, always find time for my hobbies,
friends and dating. I recently completed a 1 year self-imposed
sabbatical. Best thing I've done in years. I got to spend a lot of
time with my daughter, work around my home, and induldge in a lot
of
pleasure
reading. What a treat! I play
guitar and
sing, enjoy reading in coffee shops, hike,
tidepool (I love
being at the beach), go to
movies and plays, hang out with
friends, work out at the
gym and garden. I enjoy baseball and football, but am not obsessed
with them. I would rather be outside than watch TV. Folk and rock
music are a big part of my life. Some of my favorite movies are The
Zodiac, An Inconvenient Truth, The Illusionist, Walk the Line,
Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, Ray, Being There, Rent, The Da
Vinci Code, Fargo, Crash, Capote, Pulp Fiction, The Godfather,
Citizen Kane, Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, Shakespear in
Love, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Rear Window and Spinal Tap.
What great movies! I tend to read mostly non-fiction, but promise
to not hold your reading tastes against you. Who am I hoping to
meet? She will be a warm, reasonably sensitive, gentle, honest and
compassionate lady. I love animals and have a cat and a dog. If my
daughter had her way, I would own the Oakland Zoo. First and
foremost I am attracted to honesty and gentleness. It is critical
that anyone I am involved with understands that there will always
be another lady in my life (my beautiful daughter) and will not be
threatened by her. In fact, I hope that you will want to be
involved in her life and have something to add to it. I appreciate
confidence and a strong sense of self worth in others. I prefer
casual clothing, but have been told that I clean up nicely. I also
like someone who can be silly or serious depending on the needs of
the moment. I hope to meet someone who will teach me new things
about life and to whom I may offer the same. I want to know about
your hobbies and passions. I may find some new obsession this way.
Very cool indeed. There is more to tell you, but that will have to
wait for a follow-up message. I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a fantastic day (or night). Bill
What I’m doing with my life
I work at a start-up biotech company. That's very time consuming,
but gratifying. Also I know we're going to make the world a better
place. The people I work with are great so I don't detest getting
up in the morning to go to work. When I'm home I'm mostly a dad. My
daughter is the greatest. I work around the house, take day trips
most anywhere, plan other trips of extended length, read, and play
guitar, hang out with friends. I'd love, really LOVE to semi-retire
in a few years. Perhaps move to Hawaii and see what that's like.
Whatever I do, it will be fun.
I’m really good at
Playing guitar and singing are my hobby passions. I hate to say it
but I am really good at Excel (hopefully some of you just laughed).
I think I am also a good and loyal friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea whatsoever. I'd be interested in knowing what you
think the answer to this is. I guess I speak well and am fairly
intelligent. My self-effacing humor might be another....
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I am currently reading "The Life of Hunter S. Thompson and just
finished the Steven Colbert book. Other reads over the last 1.5
years are Brothers, Molly Ivins, Mark Molford, Obama's books,
Angela's Ashes, The God Delusion, State of Denial, Fiasco, 3 Days
in August, Beatles bio, H. S. Thompson, Al Frankin, Phil Lesh's
Book, The Birth of Venus, all of Dan Brown's works, The Kite Runner
The six things I could never do without
1) My daughter 2) My friends and family 3) My guitar 4) I love
animals. Home pets and wild. All of 'em 5) The ocean 6) Being able
to afford to stay at a nice hotel instead of a flop house
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How screwed up the Republicans and religious right are. I'm not
saying the Democrats are much better, but they are incrementally
better. We need a big change and we need it now. Business as usual
is not going to leave much to the future generations. Unless you're
idea of a good thing is a Mad Max reality. The powers of greed need
to be reigned in big time. But that won't be easy to accomplish.
I'd like to see us end this crazy ass war tomorrow and spend all
that money on alternate clean energy. We'd have a good solution in
2 years. Yeah, that's gonna happen.....
On a typical Friday night I am
With my daughter....but I am almost always free on Saturday nights
and Sundays. Then I like to plan something that's fun. Hang out
with friends, play some guitar, drink a few beers, read, perhaps
meet you.....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Tell you what...ask me a question and I'll give you a totally
honest answer. I promise!
You should message me if
...you're looking for an intelligent, family oriented (though I
don't want to have more babies, but your existing kids are very
cool!), fun guy, who has a job and a home, who has a social
conscious and who enjoys most everything the bay area has to offer.
