My self-summary
I’m at a point in my life where things have largely fallen into place, I have a job I love, a great relationship with my family, live in an apartment that feels like an oasis, great friends, lots of ways to entertain myself.

On a 1-10 scale of happiness, I’m a 9 and a relationship with the right guy would put me over the top. I’m petite, but don’t lack curves. I laugh as easily as I make others laugh. I love easily and love being loved. I’m affectionate but not clingy. I’m smart without being intellectual. I’m mature without being dull. I’m cosmopolitan (e.g., lived abroad) without being pretentious. I enjoy parties but I’m happiest having lunch in a park with the sun on my face. I’m a mix of spontaneity and planning and I'll always try something new.

I love to cook and also enjoy cocktails and wine (ask about Garagiste). I’m good with money, but know when to splurge. I believe in manners—people treating each other well. I’m an extrovert and love to socialize. I’m a Democrat but don’t impose my beliefs on others and I’m not interested in anyone imposing their beliefs on me. I’m Jewish, but not really religious. I’m childless, but haven’t ruled out having children.

I’m a voracious reader, I love podcasts and live music. I love getting outside, whether it’s in town our out of town, being under the sky and in the sun makes me happiest. You might see me zipping around town on my bike—I have a basket on back that makes running errands a breeze.

In short, I’m not judgmental, critical, or cynical—I live life with a smile on my face.
What I’m doing with my life
Helping agencies solve their problems in support of a better federal government.
I’m really good at
Making new friends, being a great friend, cooking, baking, trying new things, laughing and making others laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm nearly always smiling. If I'm not smiling I'm probably laughing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is my least favorite series of questions, but one which I pay a lot of attention to when others answer it. I'll give it my best.

A sampling of favorite books/authors: A Suitable Boy, The Great Gatsby, The Catcher in the Rye, Hemingway, Mary Oliver, Tony Hoagland, John Irving, Alice Munro, Cormac McCarthy, Jo Nesbo.

Movies: Lincoln, The Sessions, Jackass (embarrassing guilty pleasure), Love Actually, Casablanca, Lost in Translation.

TV: The West Wing, The Wire, Breaking Bad (filmed in my home state!), Arrested Development, Transparent, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Broad City, House of Cards, Narcos, Run, Luther (when it isn't too scary!).

Music: I always seem to return to Bob Dylan. Have recently seen a lot of live music, some favorites were Andra Day, Destroyer, Father John Misty, the Arcs...

Food: Spicy. Interesting. Complex.
The six things I could never do without
the people I love and who love me
something to read
sense of purpose
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How people work. What people think about. What people dream about. What motivates all of us.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends for drinks or dinner. Or, in bed with a book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a born-again romantic.
You should message me if
You're a guy who can listen and not just talk, whose world is larger than yourself, and are authentic, affectionate, smart, and interesting, and already happy and comfortable in your own skin. Looking for a dash of confidence and two dashes of joie de vivre in a man that has his act reasonably together, but hasn’t figured out everything yet.
