My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Six months in NYC! Moved here after spending most of my adult life in Boston/Cambridge.

I've written a ton of self-summaries, and I don't love writing prose about myself, so I'll borrow some words from others to get going.

Smart, funny, attractive. Okay, those are my words but people seem to agree. :)

Open, honest, straightforward. People comment that they feel like they get to know me very quickly - I'm just being myself.

"Force of personality". (Love that one.) Surprising. A woman of action.

"have the short skirt/long jacket thing going" (I've riffed on this Cake reference to create an entire self-summary before. "Touring the facility and picking up slack" is an excellent description of what I do for a living.)

I've had an interesting life which has included an 11 year marriage and a divorce, a lifetime of growing up in an Evangelical church and home followed by (no kidding) an excommunication. A short bout with cancer, and a discovery of who I am and who my true friends and "family" are through all of that. I have a small but incredibly loyal and supportive group of friends who have gotten me through a lot of things.

I really enjoy what I do for work. I'm an executive and I get to have a big fancy corner office and I do enjoy the power job which is something I never expected for myself. But the most rewarding part of my job is being able to create a good place for other people to work.

I enjoy all kinds of activities - outdoors when possible, artsy things (loving that part of New York), and I certainly enjoy good food, good drink and good company.

Being new to New York I am happy to meet people of all kinds - potential friends, casual dates, dates with long-term potential. I do trend upward when it comes to age (sorry 20-year-olds, I'm flattered but not interested).

Impressed with the NY OkCupid crowd! Looking forward to meeting more of you.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Getting settled in Manhattan. I thought I was a city girl in Boston but this is taking it up a level!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Managing people, making multi-million dollar decisions.

(Note: I can be paralyzed by small decisions like what to order for dinner or what to pack for a trip.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile? My sarcastic wit? That I will inevitably order drinks that are manlier than whatever you order? (I tend to drink whiskey and gin.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite book of all time: "A Prayer for Owen Meany".

Cult follower of Joss Whedon. Buffy, Dollhouse, and the most excellent Dr. Horrible.

Old shows: Alias, Simpsons, Arrested Development, Sports Night, Friday Night Lights, Weeds, (okay this one is girly) Gilmore Girls

Currently exploring American Horror Story.

Movies: 12 Monkeys, Wonder Boys, Up in the Air, Lost in Translation, (my most recent fascination) Kill Bill

Music: the classics from my college era (REM, Sting, U2, Suzanne Vega, Cracker, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Radiohead). Recent funky additions such as Amanda Palmer and Spoon. Love P!nk - snarky chick rock, who knew?
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Never say never. Sometimes life asks for things you thought you couldn't do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Existential questions. Seriously.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
No typical Friday nights yet. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My boobs are totally fake (I had breast cancer in early 2012).

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You are one of the many interesting people on this site with whom it would be nice to share a drink or a meal and see where things go.

You are more likely to get a response if you reference something in my profile so that I know you're not just sending generic messages to the world! (You know who you are….)

Please don't bother if you have no photos, a single photo, photos without faces, weird close ups, etc etc.
