Your Notes
Edit your notesI am entertaining, reliable, and a smart ass.
My Self-Summary
I'm originally from Illinois and moved out to Cali for school a few years back. So far, so good. With the spare time I can scrape together I attempt to play a few instruments and embark on random spurts of amateur photography. What can I say? I get excited about lenses.
I used to do a lot of work as a set electrician and have a few IMDB credits. I've had a few two many harrowing experiences in that line of work. There's enough juice running on low budget feature to power a city block. No second chances unless you believe in reincarnation. Not to mention I feel more passionate about writing. Working grip/electric is a short term gratification for me, where as writing is something I can really sink my teeth into and hold on for a while.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m really good at
Information Collection - I've amassed an obscene amount of random bits of knowledge from a jumble of disciplines. Not enough to build any sort of real proficiency, mind you, just a few nuggets available for cocktail style conversation. I habitually look up anything that piques my interest in the slightest.
Giving gifts - I enjoy seeing the look on someone's face when they get the thing they've always wanted, especially if they didn't know they wanted it until right then.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, All's Quiet on the Western Front, As I Lay Dying, The Motorcycle Diaries, Run, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Invisible Man (Ralph Ellison, not HG Wells), The Virgin Suicides, The Selfish Gene, Cosmos, and many more I can't think of.
Movies - City of God, Kontroll, Ghostbusters 1 +2 (I wanted to be a Ghostbuster so bad as a kid), Youth Without Youth, Away We Go, Road to Perdition, Into the Wild, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, There Will Be Blood, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Total sleeper film of 2007), Lars and the Real Girl... honestly I could go for days here. Someone asked me to do this once and I came up with a list of over seventy films in one sitting. Oh, I'm also a sucker for Godzilla films and 70's Kung Fu (if only they could be combined...hmm.)
Music - I'm not even going to try. Take my word on it, I'm eclectic and I'll listen to anything once. I had to move my music collection onto an external hard drive after it grew over 100 gigs. Strangely enough though I've almost abandoned my ipod and started buying vinyl.
Food - Food is good, maybe it would be better to just list what I'm not wild about:
Pineapples - Just the taste, I find them aesthetically pleasing and I will make exceptions. Hunger is the best sauce.
Anything cooked without love - I'm talking to you, Jack in the Box.
