I am passionate, funny, and empathic.

My Self-Summary

I'm pretty much a nerd and happy with that. I'm a long time obsessive fan of the Simpsons - I own all the DVDs and plan to keep collecting them. I've seen every episode and tend to quote it a lot. I love musicals, theater, video games, Law and Order, books, bookstores, jazz, HIMYM, and three of the best shows that aren't on anymore: West Wing, Arrested Development, and Firefly. (And even though I just named a bunch of tv shows, I've lived without tv for 4 years now. I know, it's weird to me as well that the tv show list gets longer anyway.)

I'm very close to my family, but they don't live here. I love living in DC because I feel like it's the perfect combination of many cities, and I love being able to see the monument from random places in the city.

I often feel like two people trapped in one body. One side of me is low key, likes yoga and all sorts of new age things, and would rather read a book then go to a club or bar. The other part of me is extremely driven, ambitious, outspoken, and moves quickly. Either way, I get great joy from small things like the way the air smells when the seasons are changing, autumn leaves on the streets, my family, my cats purring, and waking up, eating breakfast, and going back to sleep.

What I’m doing with my life

I have been working at a small non-profit for a little more than a year, first as a law clerk and now as a staff attorney. I had been working towards this goal for 7 years, so it's nice to finally be able to DO it.

I’m really good at

turning on the Southern charm if I need to suck up to someone, advocating for my clients, listening, taking care of people I love, drinking lots of diet soda. (I'm trying to cut down. Really.)

The first things people usually notice about me

It's either 1. that I don't sound like I grew up in Georgia or 2. that I've used "ya'll" 3 times in one sentence. It depends on the person and the day.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - To Kill a Mockingbird and Bitch in the House are my two main favorites. I also love Harry Potter. I mostly read mysteries, with some interesting non-fiction and women's studies throw in for good measure.

Movies - My favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. Yeah, I'm not cool. Whatever. ;) I like a lot of movies, but none that I'm so passionate about I feel like I must list them here....

Music: Jazz, classical, musicals (kind of an obsession of mine since I was in first grade), 90s alternative, woman singers, trip hop.

Food: Tex-Mex. I could eat that every day of my life.

The six things I could never do without

1. diet soda 2. reading material 3. my family 4. some sort of body of water I can swim in 5. comfy clothes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my job, my clients, my life, how my cats are feeling, the status of women in the US and around the world, whether Obama is (in the words of Jon Stewart) a Jedi master or if the presidency is kicking his ass just a little, how weirdly attracted to authority I am.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either relaxing at home or doing something low key with friends. I don't love bars or clubs, but they're fun sometimes. I like to go places where I can talk to people.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I sing. Constantly. I also make up songs, usually involving new lyrics to an established song. One of my best involves new lyrics regarding my hatred of Baltimore to the tune of "Good Morning Baltimore". (No offense to Baltimore people. I know many of you and you're lovely. However, Baltimore the city and I are NOT friends.)

You should message me if

- You don't hate cats
- You're liberal
- You're not afraid of enthusiasm and/or loud people
- You think we would click! No harm in talking, right?
