My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
...is as follows:
I'm from Upper Michigan, but now live just outside Minneapolis. I'm a fan of sports, books, movies, humor of all descriptions, and the serial comma. I am not a fan of people being angry, using cell phones while driving, talking about politics or religion, or any combination thereof.

I will respect your right to root for whatever team you like, logical or not, as long as you respect my right to root for Detroit's Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, and Pistons and the US national soccer team. (This basic reasoning also applies to your political and religious affiliations.)

(Also: do not believe OKC when it says I live in "Minneapolis"; I live in PLYMOUTH, but apparently my ZIP code "belongs" to Minneapolis or something.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
...is that I moved to Minnesota in April 2013 for a new job. As an Upper Michigan kid, cityscape anywhere is a little unnerving, but being in the suburbs helps.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...being organized, using proper grammar (which comes in handy as a technical writer), retaining useless trivia (while forgetting useful things), getting excited about things many people are only vaguely aware of (say, curling), and knocking remote controls to the floor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
...are a total mystery to me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Lord of the Rings, Ender's Game, A Tale of Two Cities, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, anything by Mark Twain, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Where the Red Fern Grows--this list is slanted toward sci-fi & fantasy, but I love reading pretty much anything that doesn't read like a textbook.

Movies: Anything funny (particularly anything involving Mel Brooks and/or the Muppets) and/or romantic and/or good drama, such as The Princess Bride, Despicable Me, Miracle, Juno, The Shawshank Redemption, V for Vendetta, or Catch Me If You Can. I'm *not* into horror films, but I like a good thriller (say, Red Eye or Inception). Also, The Lego Movie just launched itself up near the top of the list.

TV: The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother**, New Girl, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Home Improvement, M*A*S*H, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Red Wings hockey games, Team USA soccer games, World Cup, the Olympics.

Music: I generally gravitate toward mainstream classic or contemporary rock... and Weird Al. (Although I like most anything except country and screaming-into-a-microphone.)

Food: Lasagna, pizza, spaghetti, cinnamon toast, chocolate chip cookies.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
...in no particular order, are books, the Internet, cable TV, my car, tasty edibles, time to decompress

Puns are a close seventh.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...what I'm doing later, what I have to do tomorrow (and why I didn't do it yesterday), and "What the hell was I thinking?"
...what it would have been like to have been the boy Shakira (for example) had a crush on when she was 12.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday. I'm not much for going out on my own, but I might be out for a walk, checking out some sort of sporting event, or staying in with a book or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
...is that the ending to How I Met Your Mother destroyed me. Hence the asterisks earlier.
