My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
“Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!”― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Spot on. I rarely slow to a complete stop-- I love what I do as a media/technology entrepreneur, producer, sailor, musician, writer, skier, and father.

There are lots and lots of people in my life but just a few truly great friends who mean the world to me. My adult kids are amazing (to me at least) and are the greatest joy and the best teachers in a life that hasn't lacked in those departments.

On balance I'd MUCH rather laugh than mourn but there are times where each of those are in season. I see humor in life in general and marvel at the variety of experiences that have come my way. The stories of the people who have crossed my path are like pieces of a mosaic that keeps getting more interesting and complex. And beautiful.

A serious traveler--have been all over Europe, Oz and parts of Asia. Never ventured to South America or Africa yet but looking forward to those trips at some point. Love to wander around museums of all kinds---have made a living in a couple of different creative professions and truly love art and design. My house ran out of wall space for my vintage 30s posters a long time ago.

I appreciate great food but love a great burger, too. A killer breakfast place ranks as the 8th wonder of the world to me in whichever city I'm lucky enough to discover one.

For me the glass is 3/4 full. I make my living by building on and spreading around great ideas and have a hard time imagining working in a way that didn't engage my imagination and love of creation. Have done well in business and have been fortunate enough to work with some incredible people along the way.

Though I don't have a clue as to who you are looking for or why, I suspect if you have made it this far, that might be a good sign.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a founding partner in a cool tech start up still in stealth mode. I aspire to be the younger bro of the most interesting man in the world....and have been spending time writing these days--words and music are lurking around the edges somewhere..
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making you addition to lots of patently useless things....but I can swing a hammer, a piano, a cocktail shaker, a grill. Sort of a Jack of all Daniels...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
1) My willingness to go for it--no matter what. Life really is too short to not color outside the lines...

2) I try to bring adventure/fun/laughter with me generally and I work to make others around me genuinely feel welcome because they genuinely are...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Ah music. Incredibly eclectic taste. Not even I can put my iPod on shuffle because it just hurts my brain. Some artists I love--Keith Jarret, DMB, Norah Jones, Avett Brothers, Brian Eno, The Clash, Feist, Imogen Heap, Damien Rice, Jakob Dylan, Miles Davis, John Hiatt, Billie Holiday, Death Cab, too many to list and I did mention it would hurt! As to genres--rock, pop, classical, opera, "new" country, jazz, blues, yes, yes, yes....

On the literary side I read quite a bit less than I would like to--and will sometimes fall for a good thriller even though it would never make anyone's top ten list. I like authors who tell stories that have an arc. I'm not generally a fan of short form fiction because right when I'm starting to get to know the characters, its over! That said, I love Charles Baxter, a few things by Neil Gaiman, Mark Helprin, Carlos Luis Zafon--pretty much any Cormac McCarthy...a long. long, list.

Movies... kind of a movie junkie---foreign, domestic, good, bad, ugly. Some favorites--pretty much 3/4 of anything playing at the Kendall Cinema, Love the new and old French/Euro/UK directors--everyone from Guy Ritchie to Ridley Scott to Neil Jordan, Truffaut, Renoir, Bergman, and Jacques Tati's visual comedies but some great American directors as well--Hitch, Spielberg, Howard Hawks (Hatari, The Big Sleep, Rio Bravo) and Stanly Donen are faves, too. Not really a horror fan (honestly a great horror film WILL scare the hell out of me) but i like suspense/mystery and for some reason I LOVE art heist films.

TV... Hmmm. I hardly watch TV so no huge faves here.

Food: I'm adventurous--will try just about anything. Love spicy, sushi, french/___ fusion of almost any stripe, Thai, Indian, Korean, classic American...honestly I'm fairly easy to please as long as its fresh and there is an attempt at interesting know, if I'm starving.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
the processes of art and design and the millions of ways those manifest themselves in the world...

my friends and their love and willingness to work hard at understanding me in spite of my unintentional attempts to confound them...

my kids and the documentary crew running around in my head and heart trying to capture every moment...

the rare moment playing the piano where my hands are connected to my soul, not my conscious thoughts...

any moment on any sailboat....

truly great coffee. cliche but damn....
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...ways to move the big ball and art and color and sound, the sea, the sky and the wind. what it all means--or even what a little means...the questions are more important than the answers...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
rewinding the week with friends while listening to live music, or maybe having a great dinner or drinks in some gorgeous and/or dive bar, packing the car or the boat for a sail to a horizon yet to be discovered or a trail never skied/hiked/biked.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I admit nothing in this venue, counselor...
