My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
In spite of a very serious sounding profile, I have a sense of humor and an appreciation of the absurdity of human nature. I am not a big spender but enjoy some creature comforts. Interesting and maybe even provocative ideas and conversation are also high on my list.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living an honest and reasonable life is a challenge in today's world. I am a home owner with three grown daughters who do not live in this area, so have built a life here without family. At 69 I still work three days a week because I like my job in a local hospice. I am probably genetically programmed to live into my mid 90's, so have plenty of time to be retired.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening to others without judgment.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
People often take me for being somewhat younger.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Too many to list, but am an avid reader, Recent read Death in the Family by James Agee, and The Sea by John Banville. Currently reading Eaarth (correct spelling) by Bill McKibbon. Love many cable series currently "Men of a Certain Age." Especially enjoy well made movies and see a fair amount of foreign films. I like to cook but not three meals a day. Making turkey soup as I write.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Friends, family, good Books, good movies, my home, my pretty easy life right now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What will become of the world given some our values and needs (including mine) to have it all and for the good life. Something has to give. I do a Zen meditation practice (which should be the opposite of thinking) but hesitate to call myself a Buddhist, because it isn't important to me, and I am not sure what that would look like.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I might see a movie, other times have dinner, in or out, with friends. I just enjoy reading by myself sometimes.
