Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've just moved back to New York after seven years in Oakland
California and six months in Berlin Germany. I'm pretty excited to
be back. I hope that's ok with you.
Before going much further I need to apologize. From reading women's
profiles it's clear that nothing is more appealing than pictures
taken while shirtless (preferably self portraits in the bathroom).
I am not shirtless in any picture on my profile. In fact, I'm not
even hatless in all my pictures.
I recently made a friend do a spit-take. Unfortunately I didn't see
it happen but only heard it. It was a real shame for two reasons.
One is that it wasn't that great a joke. The other is that making
someone do that hardly ever happens. Maybe only once or twice a
I have a black Telecaster (electric guitar) I bought a few years
ago from someone who treated it very badly. I've done a lot of work
on it: replaced all the electronics and hardware, touched up some
gouges, worked on the neck, hugged it, etc. Now I love it more than
the much fancier guitars I have. There's nothing truly special
about it except the work I put into it. I think that might say
something about me.
Emotional intelligence is far more important to me than other forms
of intelligence. I tend to connect to people through humor and
intimate conversation. Empathy and humor are essential.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work for a small technology company that is making a product that
will improve people's lives. I know that sounds like a Silicon
Valley joke, but we're trying to help people hear better. Hearing
I like to run in the early mornings several times a week. 'Like'
might be too strong a word.
Last fall I volunteered at an after school program in Oakland
teaching Math and Programming to 6th graders. It was very hard
work, but ultimately very rewarding. Standing in front twenty
eleven year old kids is terrifying. Much harder than eleven twenty
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-deriving great pleasure and satisfaction from simple things like a
walk. an apple with almond butter, a chat with a close
-finding humor in life
-cooking the heck out of some red lentils.
I'm not good at the internet.

I once saw a movie called Conquest. I am still quite certain that
it's the worst one I've ever seen. Yet I've never known anyone who
has seen it. I've started to believe that the film doesn't exist.
That it was some dream. Well perhaps some lucky lady will read this
and remember seeing that shitshow of a movie and a lovely
relationship will be started based on our mutual trauma.
I think that the prelude to Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner is
the most beautiful thing that ever happened on this planet. I also
like Debussy and Black Sabbath and Charles Mingus.
I love seeing stand up comedy live. I saw Todd Barry last night and
it was super fun.
I like Knut Hamsun and Arthur C Clarke.
This is might fall under another category below, but I ALWAYS cry
at certain moments of the Lord of the Rings films.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-occasional gray skies.
-a way to cut my hair (rocks and fire don't count!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
-Why other people are the way they are
-Women and how neato they are.
-Jokes and all the ways they're funny
-Funny hypothetical situations.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I just moved. I'm looking forward to learning what my typical
friday night will be.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I frequently experience a second or two of confusion when people
use the terms the latter and the former. Which is which? What were
Almost as embarassing as not knowing how to spell embarrassing.
