I am slightly bored, occasionally lonely, and rather cynical.

My Self-Summary

I am an engineer, and that colors everything I am and do, for better or worse. I will certainly admit to a few minor obsessions, but I am not defined by them. I enjoy a wealth of music, art, and literature in addition to computers, technology, and toys. I enjoy traveling to new places and cultures, though I never seem to do it enough. I find friends to be the anchor in my life. I don't make them easily, and they come in small numbers, but each one is vital. That joke about how a friend will help you move, but a good friend will help you move a dead body? Yeah, that's me.

I am looking for a friend and companion. Someone who understands me, my life, and how I think and view the world, but challenges me to learn and think differently.. I'm looking for my equal (or, preferably, better) in intellect, curiosity, play, thoughtfulness, opinions/debate, and stupid jokes. Someone who makes me want to be a better person just by being a friend. She also needs to be able to laugh at both herself and me just as much as I will.

Oh, and probably should love cats and board games!

What I’m doing with my life

Mostly working, at this point. Worked very hard to get here, but now searching for the reason to *not* keep working this hard.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at not taking myself or others too seriously.

The first things people usually notice about me

Among strangers, I'm pretty shy and reserved, and among friends, I'm probably loud and talk too much.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Haruki Murakami, George R.R. Martin, Philip K. Dick, Cormac McCarthy, Andrzej Sapkowski, Chuck Palahniuk, far too many more to name....
Movies: Princess Bride (best movie of all time), Fight Club, Blues Brothers, Sneakers, Spirited Away, Children of Men....
Music: Pink Floyd, U2, Beethoven, Dvorak, Dido, Portishead, Crystal Method, The Killers, Tchaikovsky, Depeche Mode (newer stuff, rather than older), Enigma, Metallica (not the newest stuff), Thievery Corporation, Stereo MC's....
Food: Indian, Thai, Mediterranean/Greek, Persian, Ethiopian, or pretty much anything that tastes good. Just not seafood!

The six things I could never do without

My cats Taz and Katie.
Indian food.
PB&J sandwiches.
A good boardgame like Tigris & Euphrates.
Music -- though I'm obviously kind of picky about it.
TiVo.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Who will be first up against the wall once I come to power.
