My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm not sure yet if this is entirely a good thing or a bad thing (I say it in case you care about this or if it helps), but I've been uh typecast as both, a rational ENTJ who "from an early age can be observed taking command of groups", and an idealist INFP with "a capacity for personal caring rarely found in the other types".

That's right, I'm Captain America. ... Or, Florence Nightingale.

I'm contented, cheerful, and (care)free. I love waking up to the sight of the sun shining in through the bedroom window and the boats on the Hudson. I'm a bit of a prankster, playful in a teasingly affectionate way. Also a shower singer - par excellence.

The rest, is in (between) the lines below.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My career has been in what started out as a childhood hobby, and I work as a software development director at a telecom (a part of me though, misses not having followed my Geology degree further).

Outside of work and the usual weekends in or around town, I enjoy staying active (but not over-scheduled): climbing, some hobbyist mountaineering, hikes and backpacking (no expectations that you will enjoy being in the wild and under the stars, sipping a scotch by a crackling campfire - but great if you do). I love being on or by the water.

And putting to good use much of the 33 days off I get every year. Most recent was in December, to both sides of the Antarctic peninsula: from awesome tabular icebergs, to all the wildlife, a birthday polar plunge; and a few fun days in Buenos Aires after. Been squirreling most of it away this year.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
General knowledge? I was a geek growing up, books were my best friends, and there was little around me that I didn't find utterly interesting (even after I woke up to girls). Still do.

And keeping my head and my humor when all about is/are falling to pieces.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Nothing. ("I have been underestimated for decades. I have done very well that way" - Helmut Kohl :-p)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

-- Books -- History/Science: my first love (till that girl moved in across the street when I was 12). Einstein's Dreams - Eiger Dreams - Heart of Darkness - Trembling of a Leaf - Palace of Illusions... Treasure Island :-)

-- Movies & Music -- Spanning latitude, longitude, genre, and time.

-- TV -- Hardly any. Sherlock - Rome - Coupling - Yes, Prime Minister... Tom & Jerry :-) Nature films. Documentaries. The two world cups every four years. The only reality show I watch is the Presidential Debate every election year.

-- Food -- If it didn't speak a human language and is dead, I'll eat it. Partial to the spicy but flavor is fulfilling.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. the sanctuary of home, but also my passport
2. nature/the outdoors
3. food for the soul: music, books, movies
4. food (see above)
5. a long hot shower
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the scale of the cosmos; the origin of the universe; the awe of existence; the passage of time; the wonder of nature; the nature of people.

And what's for lunch.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At drinks after work. Or chilling at home, not about to move except for dinner or an earthquake.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you can - figuratively speaking (or literally) - go from a pair of shorts going out for a hike or a ride in the morning, to a dress going out for dinner at night, and can keep your cool if it were to unexpectedly rain on either event.
