My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
To preface I will begin by saying I might appear to be "captain serious" here initially but trust, I love making people laugh and I right along with them. A good sense of humor is really primary to me. Goes both ways of course. Partners should always be able to spend lots of time laughing together as I truly believe laughter keeps one healthy and young.

I am not a surface swimmer type of person. No, I prefer swimming in deeper waters. Engaging myself in stimulating conversations with thoughtful people trumps chitchat for me most everyday. That being said I will be a bit on the serious side here in order to paint an accurate picture of who I am and the things that are important to me. There is plenty of joking about and making light of things to come if you get to know me. Now, here goes...

I like to embrace the fact that I am indeed alive, here for a finite and indeterminate time...and as a result I work to live life to the fullest! I am not religious in any way shape or form though I have studied many different religions. I believe in meta-physics, cause and affect...string theory and other realities that have yet to be fully understood by man.

I am an artist (which at this point you may very well not be surprised about in the least) working in the disciplines of sound/music and image, both painting and photography. I am 40 years old and have been at this stuff a long time. It is my true and deepest love and I have surrendered many things in my life in exchange to continue upon my path there-in.

I am a big time traveler and love throwing myself into the wilds of this planet. I often times feel most at home when I am on the road. If you do not like to travel, please, I am not the guy for you! That being said, I have lived in NY for nearly 20 years at this point and am looking to make a move out of here. I am looking for a partner that is also open about life outside of NYC, perhaps out west or another country entirely. For now though I am here in NY, so on with the show...

I do not seek someone who shares the same loves as I per-say...but rather someone who is impassioned about life and living, beyond just having a "good job" and "security." I need someone who is alive and knows it...someone who has their own passions and things they need do with their days on the planet. No specific field...I'm wide open...It's all about consciousness for me...attention to all the little details in life that many people seem to be blind to, either by intention or design.

Having fully enjoyed my single life as well as loves/relationships of some lengthy standing, I am leaning more in the direction of the latter and have begun the process of opening myself up to a new life partner. I won't lie to myself when it comes to love. When I am single I am single...but when I am in love with another I am all about it! At this point I am looking ideally to hang up my single-life cleats on the wall and walk away forever. It's been great but I am ready to move into the next chapter of my life. Yes, ultimately I am looking for that life partner, potential wife and mother to my children (not to scare u off) as I am in no rush at all...needless to say, as again I am 40 and I have never been married nor do I have any children. That said, I am completely ready and willing to go there if and when a time tested relationship warrants it.

I'm sure you are wondering, "Ok, he's an artist... What does that mean? Does he make a living doing it?" The answer is both yes and no. I do receive commissions and grants for my work, yes. Am I some "famous artist," no. Fame is of little interest to me...though I do long to be notorious for making good work. Again, my work is what I care most about. Now, you are wondering what else I do to make a living... I am fully employed in a solid position as an art handler, working for various museums in the city. Do I make $250k? No. Do I care? No. Again, for me, life is about living a meaningful existence...

I love to exercise and I run regularly. I am not some super human running machine but I am up to 10 miles for my distance run and I am working towards my first half marathon. Recently joined a gym to wok out inside for the winter...though I will still run outside as well. I am in good shape and pushing my body is a requirement for me. If I don't exercise regularly I feel sluggish, less in tune, less productive. Being fit in body and in mind is important to me and they go hand and foot with one another. I am attracted to active women who understand this and feel likewise.

I love food from all reaches of the planet! I eat pretty healthy and modest, generally speaking. I avoid fried food and excess fats as a daily principle though I certainly make exceptions to these rules when I go out to eat with friends and join in celebrations...
I'm also a spice junky!

I love long bike rides, time spent at the beach or the ski slopes, scuba diving...and yes I've jumped out of more than one airplane in my fact I've jumped out of two:)

Well, that is enough about me here I think. On to other questions.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Percussionist - Composer
I also love to play bass (particularly contra bass) and bass clarinet
Instrument builder (simple/nothing too complex)
Soundpainter (Look it up if you wanna know)
Visual Artist - Painting/Photography

I love to write, especially when I am on the road traveling.

Also, I love to play chess!!! If you are a chess player you get immediate points with me!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am an excellent musician, percussionist. I am also quite proud of my paintings and my photographs.

I love to cook and can get around the kitchen ok.

Getting off a plane in some far off country where I don't speak the language, with limited amounts of money in my pocket, thriving...coming out the back end much richer for the journey.

People often tell me I am a great person...kind hearted with a great ability to listen as well as give sound advice.

I am a bit of a perfectionist so whatever I set my mind and body in action to do, I do with pride and professionalism.

Plenty if other things too I'm told:)

Don Quixote - Cervantes
100 Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Spring Snow - Yukio Mishima
A Peoples History of the United States - Howard Zinn
Beneath the Undedog - Charles Mingus

Apocalypse Now
Dead Man
Black Swan
Chris Rock - Never Scared
Oh Brother Where Art Thou

Henry Threadgill
Art Ensemble of Chicago

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Playing music
Painting pictures
Having sex
Enjoying good food.
Learning new things
Laughing till my sides hurt. (Yes, I'm aware that's 7 things. I have fingers and toes;))
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The nature of things... From extensions on the Big Bang Theory to the ramifications of the human species effects on one another, the planet and all its inhabitants. How to express all this through a set of drums or a painting...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At home painting while listening to music or watching documentaries or films, with a home cooked meal and a nice red wine.

An ideal partner is one who's preferred Friday night would consist of any of the following (and many other things. I'm so open for suggestions and impromptu frolics:)) over heading out to the club to party and drink:

Making nice dinners together while we talk the night away, sipping fine wine while great music lights up the space.

Snuggling up on the couch to take in a good film.

Heading out for an evening run together...putting down some miles.

Play games together, particularly chess (dream-girl if this is you;)).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I will tell you anything and keep no secrets once I know and trust you. Here, publicly what am I willing to admit that's private? Nothing, the best secrets take time to reveal anyway.

Here's a couple tokens:

Yes, I am one of those "green people" who brings his own bags to the grocery store. I like the Swiss way to aid in reducing the carbon footprint. There, if u want a bag you pay for it! As a result, everyone brings their own. Just think about it, in NYC alone, near 9,000,000 people go to the bodega on the daily, right? That's a lot of useless plastic in a day that ends up in the landfill or oceans... If you don't care at all about simple mindfulness on things like this, I am not the guy for you.

I wear runners tights when I run. They are new for me. I feel like some awkward super hero in where is my cape? "Who is that masked man?" Oh my, I better figure out what my special powers are, and quick;) "Introducing Super ___________(trumpets sound - da-dada-da-dada)!!! Lol:)
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you have actually read what I wrote and feel a genuine affinity with or curiosity about it. You must be sincere, honest in your intentions. I have no tolerance for wishy washy people or game playing. If you feel yourself to be potentially a good match for me then yes, by all means contact me. Let's have conversation and go from there. perhaps something further may result from that point on. Let's chat...see if we feel like meeting for coffee, a walk in the park, or drinks.

You've actually put in the time on your profile to inform people about who you actually are and what you are interested in. A few jokes and vague descriptions makes it impossible to tell anything...just kinda blend in with the rest. A pretty face is great but I need to know more than that for you to really interest me. If you really want to meet someone that works with you, isn't that worth a few hours of your time to provide a strong idea of who you are and what you like? I don't really understand being here if you are not willing to put in the effort.

I love a woman who can knock out a sun dress and flip flops one moment then turn around, sling a 40 lbs pack on her back and hike into the woods for a few days time no problem. High maintenance women I'm sorry but with all due respect please keep searching. Allow me to save us both the time and energy here by wishing you well on your journey.

And, last but not least, please don't be shy and old fashioned. It's 2013 and I like bold women who are willing to take a chance in life! Translation - if you actually are interested, let me know.
