My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
well its really tough to try describe myself in a paragraph...but here goes! I am from Texas, but returned to Austin after a year living and working in New York. Like my name title says - I am super nerdy, and I love music. I have a very curious mind, and I love to read and talk about everything from politics to science. I am also a musician...a bassist. Been playing out a lot lately...always happy to help people dance the night away!

I also really enjoy traveling and meeting people from different places. I've lived in Cuba, Mexico, and Brazil...and have been lucky to visit a few other places along the way. I speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese
I also love to cook - Italian, Mexican, grilling...I am down!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have recently done a radical career change, but am very happy with the results. I was a radio producer for NPR for about 9 years, and relocated last year to New York. But I am now back in Austin helping my friend run a restaurant, and really glad to be back in Texas! I do some journalism work on the side though to keep up my chops :)

I'm a big history buff - especially when reading about Latin America. Eduardo Galeano is one of my all time favorite authors. But I have also rediscovered fiction with Octavia Butler topping my list....really dig Junot Diaz, Murakami, James Baldwin. I have also recently become somewhat obsessed with sci fi or speculative fiction written by authors of color. Tananarive Due, Sherman Alexie, Nalo Hopkinson are all peeps I'm reading work by right now. It's interesting to see the future or alternate past and present that writers of color are putting out there.

Music...well too much to name, but I am forever a salsero in my heart. I also was a teenager listening to metal and cumbia, and always get down with funk and afrobeat!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
race and social class...bass lines of random songs I've to spend more time chilling with my puppy
