My self-summary
My interests, hobbies and outlook read total dirtbag hippie on paper but I don't look the part. Sustainable living, love your neighbor, weekend fungi foraging trips, co-ops, yoga and eschewing preconceived notions are only a few ways in which the inner hippie comes out. I have a an insatiable curiosity about the world and my career as a librarian helps in fulfilling those desires. My wicked sense of humor can be charming or off putting. I've been told I'm incorrigible. I value people that can laugh at themselves and the world around us. I have moved around quite a bit for school and work but am thrilled to be back in my beloved grey Seattle.
What I’m doing with my life
Learning how to garden. Enjoying the soil. Experimenting with different kinds of kimchi. Making sure spiders have a solid place to land, Hiking, rock shows and a lot of reading.
I’m really good at
My work, daydreaming, not panicking.
The first things people usually notice about me
My personal style. I was raised by cats and they gave me my own sense of style and independence.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently reading "Cider House Rules" by John Irving. He's generally hit or miss but when he's good he's really good. I saw John Waters and he said about his quote "We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck them" was a lie! I knew it! I love to read but if it's not your thing I won't think anything less of you.
My favorite books are 2666, Watership Down, His Dark Materials trilogy, Mushrooms Demystified and How to Cook Everything.

Bored to Death, Party Down, Downton Abbey. I like TV.

Beyonce, Elvis Costello, Joanna Newsome, Drake and Nick Drake, LCD Soundsystem, Kate Bush, Kraftwerk, Juilie Doiron, John Lennon, The Jayhawks, Hercules and Love Affair, Guided by Voices, The Gossip, Gary Numan, The Fall, Elliott Smith, THe Dutchess and the Duke, Dirty Projectors, Devo, Destiny's Child, Deerhunter, Deerhoof. Yes, I did just scroll through my iPhone for ideas. I pared down my record collection a few years ago and haven't added to it. But sometimes I just want to listen to The Staple Singers Live on vinyl. It just sounds better. I love the latest Rufus Wainwright. He's really channeling his inner Harry Nilsson.
Not into jam bands and college rock.

I do love French cookery but am appalled at how they treat vegetables. Picky eaters are a pet peeve of mine.
I haven't been inspired to see a movie in quite some time but a few faves are Moon, Clueless, Annie Hall, All About Eve and Nashville.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua is underrated.
The six things I could never do without
adventure, humor, iphone, cats, sparkling water, contacts/glasses.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Different dimensions. My cat. Earth. Transportation issues.
On a typical Friday night I am
Total dud lately, volunteering at the aquarium. It's one of the few evenings I don't have to be anywhere so I may as well hang with the cephalopods and echinoderms. If I wasn't a librarian I think I'd be a marine biologist. Or an analyst for OKcupid.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
America's Funniest Videos is the funniest show on television. I laugh just thinking about it.
