Practical hedonist seeks similar for mutually self improving co-existence.

If you ask me what my favourite (yes, I do spell it like that) thing in the world is, I'll say live music, but that'd be a lie. My real favourite thing is other people. I'm looking to combine these passions by finding a happy someone to go to shows, clubs, bars, parties and crash weddings with. And generally hang out. I'm a Brit who's been in Seattle for a few years, I like my job which keeps both sides of my brain happy, think too much, and value my friends above all else.

I just returned from three months wandering around parts of southeast Asia, which was a long time dream. I'm slowly readjusting to having a fixed abode, a job, and possessions that won't all fit into one bag - hopefully I can maintain my zen state regardless. It looks like I got back just in time for Spring too. I've been permanently spoiled by a year in California, so I love the sun, but snowboarding season will be missed.

I'm a great believer in that it's not what, but how and who. So I'm here looking to add some new people to my already awesome array of friends.

I'm going back to work to finish a project I helped start a long time ago. After that, who knows. Accumulating money is dull...

...unless I'm spending it on some kind of self improvement, I love to learn new stuff. My current projects are furniture building (I'm thinking of buying a place of my own and Pottery Barn can kiss my ass) and getting a motorbike.

Is that I'm a 26 year old Australian surfer, probably called Lucas, even though I'm none of those things.

I love to read. I'm always working through a book or two and I try to balance contemporary fiction, classics and non-fiction. Here's a few favourites at random: Espedair Street, Cryptonomicon, Gentlemen of the Road, Black Swan Green, Love in the Time of Cholera, Man's Fate, The Master and Margarita, The Rule of the Bone, The Famished Road.

I enjoyed The Tipping Point, Freakonomics etc, but I'd rather get such things in bite sized chunks, so my iPod is full of TED talks. Speaking of iPod videos I obsessively watched all five seasons of The Wire while traveling. If all TV was that good, maybe I'd actually watch it sometimes.

Music. Hmm, that could take up a lot of space, I basically have to have music everywhere all the time. Music, Coffee, Conversation. The wind in my hair, the potential difference, and you. All of you.

Spending time with old friends, getting to know new friends, eating, drinking, watching all the beautiful and freaky people go by.

Oh yes, let's talk about you. You love music, but you're also partial to hot coffee, cold beer, red wine, spicy food, good conversation, peoplewatching, staying up all night, and laughing your ass off at nothing, right? Know who you are, be open, genuine and generous (with your self, not your money), and we'll get on famously. Things to spark my interest above and beyond that? Be driven, spontaneous, independent, creative, smart, well read, well traveled, and ...hot :) Bonus points for being able to tell me loads of interesting stuff, driving stick, and teaching me to sing.

If you have a desire to travel then that's even better. My recent trip has opened Pandora's Box and I have a long list of places I want to see, from cities in the US, to wilderness in far flung countries.

Oh, and if you're too cool for school, then go ahead and play truant. I'll enjoy math class just fine without you.

P.S. An update about pictures. Please have at least a few pictures, including some that actually show what you look like, and some you didn't just take of yourself with your cellphone or in the bathroom mirror. Otherwise I'll just assume you have no friends and never leave the house or do anything interesting ;)

P.P.S. Another update. Don't know how to break the ice? Don't want to just wink or say "er, hi"? Then write to me and tell me what you'd do if you suddenly got given a week off starting tomorrow and a $1000 to spend by the end of it.
