About me…well to start my name is Patrick. I was born and raised in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a stop in New Castle, Delaware
(yes, it’s one of the 50 states). I moved down to Fort Worth, Texas
and have lived since 1995. I live in Bedford, TX...but the family
moved along to Chicago, Illinois. I'm envious, but Texas isn't so
bad at all. Rocking out the apartment living while saving for the
dream home.
I’m 5’8” so, right off, if you’re looking for the lanky, long guys
(get your mind out of the gutter :) lol) that’s not me. I have
green eyes with natural highlights around them, dark brown hair,
and an athletic build from my years of hockey. I have seven
tattoos, they’re all original art that one of my friends does for
me. They are mostly Celtic based, original art from a friend, and
bare complete meaning to me. No Smurfs or cartoon characters doing
anything hilarious or explicit. Yes, I'm Irish (and slightly
pale). My lip is pierced but I’d be willing to part with it as I’m
starting to wonder if I’m a bit old for it. But I figure it fits me
for the time being. My ears are pierced seven times altogether, but
I no longer have the patience to mess with all of that.
I’m drug and drama free. I prefer a laid back lifestyle without all
the crappy games that people play these days. I don't have time for
that. I don’t drink a lot, but that doesn't mean I don't drink.
More so on social occasions and gatherings than any. I don’t need
too much to spark my already overly creative mind. I love
conversation whether it’s serious or goofy. Whatever fits the mood.
I love to listen to people. I’ll do anything to get a smile out of
anyone. I like deep, meaningful conversations...but I also enjoy
laughing and being a complete dork/moron. There is a medium. I just
enjoy the simple pleasures that life offers.
I work for a railroad company (BNSF) as a train dispatcher. It’s a
difficult job to explain, but think in terms of air traffic control
except I deal with trains. We’re the people who keep trains from
hurting you at railroad crossings that aren’t working correctly
among millions of other tasks. I don’t ride trains or anything like
that. I have an awesome khaki and cubicle desk job that lacks the
ease of the nine to five shift. We work 24-7-365, but the pay is
nice and so are the benefits. All in all, it’s not too bad of a
gig.
I’m a total hockey guy. I play, coach, teach, watch, and nearly eat
hockey. In terms of
edibility (real word or not, it now exists) it's cold and
delicious, much like an ice cream sandwich. I spent time playing
hockey very seriously for several years before realizing
junior/minor leagues do not pay enough to live on. I’m into most
every sport ranging from baseball to lacrosse or any sport that
leads to a broken bone or scar to brag about. I follow sports as my
schedule allows. With all of that said, I try to work out a lot and
make it a habit to eat well enough and be in decent shape. I’m not
a health maniac, but I think it’s a good habit to be involved
with.
I absolutely love music. I play the guitar and write my own music. Currently,
I’m trying to learn the piano. I had tried the band thing when I
was younger, but I don’t have the same amount of time these days.
Instead, I focus on writing lyrics and music myself purely for the
joy of it. See my journal for occasional lyrics. I tend to stick
with rock and punk genres, but I absolutely refuse to write off any
genre because all music is great. I can admit liking a bit or some
of techno, rap, country, and much more. I try to keep an open mind.
Some of the bands I dig on a consistent basis: blink-182 (kind of my
Fisher-Price “First Punk Band”, sad guilty pleasure), Social
Distortion, NoFX, Pennywise, Killswitch Engage, Bad Religion,
Alkaline
Trio, The Cure, The Toadies, The Counting Crows, Coheed &
Cambria, Underoath, Silverstein, Senses Fail, Saosin, Bloc Party, Reel Big
Fish, Matchbook Romance, The Bouncing Souls, +44, Angels and
Airwaves, CKY, Face to Face, Less Than Jake, Dr. Dre, Ludacris,
Busta Rhymes, Linkin Park, and Nas. I also dig 80’s music entirely
too much. The song “Take On Me” by a-Ha is one of my most guilty
pleasures. I do old school punk such as Joy Division (err, kinda),
Ramones, Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, and The Clash.
I don’t watch too much TV, but I take pride in my massive movie
collection. I tend to stick the popular movies (LOTR, The Matrix,
Harry
Potter), stupid comedy, action, historical stuff, and my
favorite TV shows on DVD. Again, like my taste in music, I’ll watch
anything once. I don’t mind chick flicks, drama, etc. I also own a
PS3, a Nintendo Wii, and an X-Box 360…so I enjoy playing those
occasionally.
I stress that if we share anything in common, send a message. It
would be great to get to know some new people.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I work for Burlington Northern as a train dispatcher so that
basically is most of what I'm up to. If you REALLY want to know
what a train dispatcher does/is, ask. Thankfully, I make a good
chunk of money in exchange for stress and occasional bouts with not
getting enough sleep. I'm also looking into getting another degree
in psycology, so I'm taking my work up on the opportunity for free
school. If it's free, why not?
Due to that, I'm really looking forward to starting the next part
of my life. I'm not looking to go from single to married in an
instance...but I'm more than ready to settle down when the right
person comes along.
I'm always writing new lyrics, songs, or whatever I can come up
with. I'm my own worst critic, but it's an excellent way of
expressing myself. It makes hard times easy and great times
better.
I'm also picking up on coaching kiddos how to skate and play
hockey. I enjoy giving kids a jumpstart into the vast opportunities
that rec sports bring. I play hockey in several rec leagues at the
moment against former pros and former minor leaguers.
I'm always eager to learn and do as much as I can. Versatility is a
great thing. I'm out to just be me and enjoy that. I feel no reason
to be anything different. Life is an adventure, an incredible one,
and I'm eager to see it all.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm too modest to think I'm "really good" at anything. The things I
tend to be decent at are: hockey, ice skating, the guitar, the fake
guitar (Guitar Hero and Rock Band), WoW, "trying" to be funny,
making people smile, and always putting my max effort into whatever
it is I'm doing.
I find my writing and lyrics to be borderline ok. But every now and
then I pop out something I really do like. I enjoy wiring audio
systems and setting things up in terms of technology. I've built my
own computer which was a surprise when I turned it on and it
actually worked.
I'm even better at running myself to death and functioning on very
little sleep. I do what I can to keep everyone in my life happy,
even at my own expense. I like trying to be good at lots of thing
as I always believe that versatility is one of the greatest traits.
I like being able to help others out without expecting a thing in
return.
The one thing I will say I'm "really good" at is driving a Zamboni.
I spent three years driving one for the Dallas Stars.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I'm not really sure. I'd say, typically, it's my eyes, arms, broad
shoulders, the tattoos, my slight accent, or the fact that my lip
is pierced. Sometimes it's my smile or my sense of humor. Oh, as
well, as you can tell, the fact that I thrive with detail. Hence,
the neverending profile :)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
(A) Harry Potter, historical books, anything that keeps my
attention. Tolkien, Rowling, and King are enjoyable. Currently
reading a few books on meditation, yoga, and zombies. I'll be
honest, I'm not a literary intellectual...but I do enjoy reading
and I'll try anything.
(b) In terms of movies, if Kevin Smith touched it, I love it. Let's
subtract Jersey Girl though. Clerks, Clerks 2, Dogma, Chasing Amy,
Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Zack and Miri Make A
Porno. Love them all. I enjoy the Harry Potter series, The Lord of
the Rings series, and The Matrix series. I love Die Hard, Bad Boys
1 and 2...and a lot of crap like that. I think Adam Sandler is
great. I'm not much for his humor these days, but his classics
won't be forgotten. Ditto for Chris Farley. Will Smith is one of my
favorites too. Milla Jovovich and Elizabeth Banks are beautiful and
great actors. I enjoy psychological movies too. Scanner Darkly was
cool, Pulp Fiction, Go, and movies like that. All in all I love
comedies: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Super Troopers, Office
Space, Bad Santa, Baseketball, etc. I'll watch any movie though
from chick flicks to even some horror. I love "classics" like The
Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Empire Records. I own far too
many movies, I'll spare you the list.
TV: Cliche as it sounds, I enjoy It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
:) I also love Arrested Development, Futurama, The Simpsons, South
Park, Lil Bush, The Boondocks, Family Guy, American Dad, Fresh
Prince, Robot Chicken, NHL hockey, anything with Gordon Ramsey
yelling at future/current cooks, The Mitchell and Webb Look, The
Soup, Oz, etc. I don't watch much TV to be honest. Having DVR is
great though.

American food. I'm up for almost anything. I can admit, I do eat
meat, however, I do eat tofu and meat alternatives willingly at
times.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
I could do without some of these, but I'd prefer not to :)
1. Love
2. Guitar/Music (Without it, I think we'd all die...this includes
my iPod)
3. Great food (I love food and food loves me)
4. My family and friends
5. Internet/computer (It's only rational)
6. My desire, passion and my common sense
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
I'd say what most guys my age think about, but that's far from the
truth. I generally think about life. What's going on with it, what
I want to do with it, who do I want in it, etc. I think about my
about friends, family, and new people coming in and out of it of my
life. And...yeah...of course girls, relationships, etc.
Particularly stumbling upon the illustrious "right one for me".
Things like that.
I enjoy deep conversation so I tend to find some deep thought to
linger on about. Psychology and philosophy are huge. I love
spending time understanding why people do the things they do, think
the way they do, and more. I'm a deep thinker in ways. I try to
keep an open mind always. All this usually leads to some
daydreaming.
I'm usually always thinking of things in my life or other's lives
to write songs about. There is nothing better than making a song
that can change the way people see things (in my opinion).
And, I'm always striving to find ways to improve myself.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Working until 11. If I am not working, you would probably find me
at the gym working out, out at the movies, out at restaurant, over
a friend's place, etc. Perhaps just sitting around doing absolutely
nothing. I'm content being at home if there is someone worthwhile
to be there with. I can be a homebody or I can be the life of a
social gathering.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I am shy at first, sensitive, and a romantic deep down. I'm also a
"big boy", I don't need a girl to do chores (laundry, dishes) or to
become a mother figure. I love helping out around the place when I
share it with someone else. I don't feel right sitting around while
someone else cleans up after me. Otherwise I don't know...I don't
really have much that is private, nothing to hide. I'm not a very
confident or egotistical person. I'm oblivious and naive to anyone
hitting on me. Overall, I'm a normal, down to earth person with
nothing to hide. Ask and ye shall receive.
You should message me if Propose an edit
You want to laugh, smile, and/or have fun. If I seem interesting or
someone you'd like to be friends with or get to know, I'd love to
do the same. If you're looking for a one night stand or a
meaningless relationship, I'm not your guy. I'm looking for
friends, a relationship, or someone who at least anticipates
wanting a relationship eventually. I'm not some creep who thrives
on being an ass and the word "NO" is understood very well in my
vocabulary. I'm single as is, I'm happy with that, but it would be
nice to find the right person. Above all else, meeting a few new
people to just chill, talk, or whatever else would be awesome.
