I am smart but dumb, ecclectic, and affectionate.

My Self-Summary

I got politically active in the last few years, a sideline of starting blogs and wanting to share the lies I was discovering.

Wow, somehow all the boring rest of my original profile got dropped.

If you somehow approved of Bush-Cheney or the new John Birch Republican party and their neo-nuts on policies I am not for you.

I consider myself liberal and mostly optimistic and friendly once I get to know people. Tolerance is a virtue I admire. So is education and common sense.

I doubt I am more than half-crazy.

I care about much more than politics.

I am still friends with my ex-wife.

New I have to update this every so often. Blogs seem mainly yesterday giving way to Facebook and Digg.com.

What I’m doing with my life

Hunting for a better job not very well, blogging and hanging out with a bunch of science fiction people.

I have a cat. I had not had a pet for over 20 years but this showed up. She is not a lap cat but demands attention.

Watching too much TV lately.

I've stopped, now spending too much time on the Internet.

I’m really good at

Forecasting, future studies, making people feel loved, marketing, research, problem solving for other people, geodemographics and mapping, fiddling around with pcs, procrastinating, research, finding interesting but inexpensive restaurants, most geeky things, and ESO.

The first things people usually notice about me

Almost all my hair is gone. I am usually quiet until you get to know me. I act much younger than my age.

New, after never having long hair I decided to grow a pony tail this year. The picture with the hat was taken shortly before going to the Yucatan years ago.

That was last year. I cut the pony tail - making a couple people happy - and am deciding what to do with my hair later this year. Dying at least part of it red or a strange color has been suggested as well as shaving it or just growing a beard again.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The controversial Time Enough for Love is my favorite book.

I know what this book is about:

"If you live long enough you can hope to love all those you come across worthy of love. With advancing technology some people will live long enough and this will also change the nature of society and love. But with all the advances some stories will stay the same. It is also about the nature of survivors - they are friendly but wily. It is also about how to keep someone interested in staying alive when you can live forever and that person has already done just about everything."

You can gently bop people in the head with this book if they don't like it.

Specific foods include very fresh steamed or grilled vegetables, shrimp fajitas, saag paneer, pad thai, stuffed flounder, cheesecake, creme brulee, and lasagna with layers and layers of cheese. I can go vegetarian for weeks but not vegan.

The six things I could never do without

the internet, my pc, books, friends, interesting foods, hugs, intellectual stimulation, more books. Mazlow's basics.

"... doesn't follow directions, doesn't color inside the lines."

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, love, life, 42, geeks, interesting girls, hugs, games, the future.

How many days until Bush is out of office? Yahoo, our long national nightmare is finally over. How many days before we get a better class of idiots in Washington and the GOP self-implodes into the smaller racist and religious business party?

Should I have shot Tom DeLay despite disturbing the current timeline?

On a typical Friday night I am

Either going out to eat, hopefully with a friend, or I am on my PC. I could be staying home and watching the Sci-For whatever they are calling it now Channel or IFC or Sundance.

New - Even less TV this year, there is a geeky coffee-house neo-pagan group meeting I have occasionally gone to and a Montross Friday night board games meeting I rarely attend. An old political friend always suggests going out to movies Friday nights but I am a matinee prices type of guy. I have been up in Nacogdoches some Fridays recently. Several times a year there are Friday night game or SF Cons.

I am sure glendajeanne will find ways for me to spend more Friday nights.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I think women look best right out of the shower, no makeup, hair either wet or in curlers.

I look best with your eyes closed :-).

I usually really like chick flicks.

I like subtitles.
