My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Profile Three: This Time, It's For Real.

I think my profile has tended toward intimidating the last few revisions. I've been told I'm intimidating at first, so it adds up. In the end, I'm a total tootsie pop, lick count indeterminate. I'm gonna go a little bullet point on you here, I'm hoping it's less offputting.

I like to know things. All the things. I know a fair number.

I really like to argue. I don't mean anything by it, I just like to.

I talk. A lot. About everything. Or anything, depending on your viewpoint.

I'm a Tucson transplant, originally from the middle of the middlewest. My town was not large, but it had a great name.

I adore words. I enjoy writing, but I never know what to write, so I never do. I used to read a lot. I should really do that again.

Music. I love it. I have scary headphones and everything. I play the guitar and sing a bit. I won't make you listen.

I oversee the Island of Misfit Technology. I like whizbang gadgets a lot. I constantly feel like I'm simultaneously living in the future and wondering where the future I imagined went. Yes, I do mean jetpacks.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I make computers do things. Impressive things, if you care about things that computers do.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeming like I've got it all together.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My voice carries unnaturally well, so you'll probably hear me before you see me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books, fiction. Magic and spaceships. Patrick Rothfuss, John Scalzi, Naomi Novik, Richard K Morgan, Vernor Vinge. You get the idea.

Movies, so so many. I have a deep love for movies. Come see a movie with me, we will be friends. Off the cuff, favorite movie, Top Gun. Why? Don't ask me why. If we watch it, you'll understand, even if you've seen it before.

Music, singer-songwriter mostly. Rachael Yamagata, Clare and The Reasons, Brandi Carlile, The Civil Wars, Jenny Owen Youngs, Regina Spektor... I have a poorly updated but representative music blog at: Don't let the name fool you, there's a very solid entry on Jakob Dylan in there somewhere. Outside of that, I also like electronic stuff (Kaskade, Tiesto, Adventure Club, Phoenix, Goldfrapp, Thievery Corporation, Deadmau5, etc), rap/hip hop (Jay-Z, Common, Tupac, Kanye, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Dre, Busta Rhymes), jazz/big band (Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, Sarah Vaughn), alternative (Foo Fighters, Offspring, Incubus, White Stripes, Soundgarden, STP, Weezer), hair metal (Poison, Scorpions, Warrant), classic rock (CCR, Stones, The Who, Aerosmith), oldies (Righteous Brothers, Otis Redding, Beach Boys)... I really like music.

I love food. I am forever searching for The Best. The best marinara, the best Chicago-style deep dish, the best carne seca, the best pulled pork, the best gelato, the best burg, The Best (capital letters). That list is...revealing. I, personally, make The Best baked beans you've ever had.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Music. New music, especially.
2. Luce espresso. If you know, you know.
3. My crew. I don't know what I'd do without these guys.
4. Healthy skepticism
5. Mother Internet, Father Internet.
6. Sunglasses. Seriously, it's bright outside.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why I'm thinking about whatever I'm thinking about. I can't help it. I actually judge my own thoughts.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At a movie, drinking scotch, grilling, reading, watching the television, playing bball, eating something delicious, bowling... Only way to know for sure is to be there.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've come to identify with America's Horse With No Name more and more. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
