My self-summary
I like it. I like waking up each day to a new adventure, to watching the world and myself evolve and unfold. It’s like an endless evolving magical puzzle. I am working on welcoming the joy and pain of it to the fullest. I like my life adventure from the very minute (seeing the light filter through blinds in the morning) to the grand (climbing somewhere very far away or trying an ambitious project). My aim is to find it in every moment. That doesn't mean that I don’t fail, flail and get lost – oh, I do. But I know that the flow of it is always there, and if I step back I can see it every time. And that makes me smile. I push the adventure forward through breathing, reading, writing, walking, climbing, talking, dancing, drawing, touching and failing at meditation.

I want companions in this adventure. I find that sharing it makes it ever so much fuller and richer. In particular, it would be wonderful to find a main companion who will go deeper, farther and longer with me.

I most value kindness, honesty and not taking things seriously. I try to cultivate these in myself, but if I ever think an unkind thought, I just pretend it never happened... just kidding. My sense of humor is slightly Russian and therefore can be a bit quirky.
What I’m doing with my life
Playing with data for work (I love data), and starting a psychology grad program in the Fall for fun (I love psychology too). That would be my second graduate degree. Yup. I am having a mid-30s crisis and changing careers. It's as awesome as it is petrifying.

I also rock climb, meditate, do holotropic breathwork and read. I go to various geeky meetups and to aerial dance and ecstatic dance. I always have a side project of sewing something, potting some plants, or some other handy project waiting or happening.
I’m really good at
smiling; thinking about patterns; getting stuff done; traveling; math (relatively); making something from whatever is in the fridge; supporting my friends; navigating (no, really).

I am getting better at feeling the beauty around me; remembering to breathe in deeply a few times a day; meditation; loving.

I am bad at running fast; doing nothing; remembering names of bands, movies and authors; moving laundry from washer to drier to closet.
The first things people usually notice about me
my smile... that's because i am really good at it, see above.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read. I read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, and my tastes are eclectic. I am reading now:
- Brainstorm by Dan Siegel - he is a neuroscientist who wrote a book about teens; my nephew is becoming one so I thought it would be interesting to read it.
- Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman which is a book about how our brains deceive ourselves in various ways.
If there is a New Yorker, I read all the cartoons first, and then read it from the back to the front.

I tend towards modern electronic music, starting with minimalists like Steve Reich (although he is not electronic per se) and ending with Burial, James Blake, Caribou, Gold Panda, Dan Deacon and TuneYards. Sometimes, there is nothing better than a Bach cello suite though.

Mooovies. Lately, not so much. Last movie I saw was Swedish Auto, which is a beautifully made indie love story shot in North Carolina. I've seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon more than 7 times. To add color Secretary is one of my old time favorites. I like Almodovar and Kieslowski. I loved Twin Peaks.

Eating. I love bread (european style) and good fruit and kale and fresh fish and good steak. I like coffee, and I am slightly addicted to coffee. But I really love tea. I, of course, love chocolate.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
see above... wait, that would be 'as above, so below' or something.

patterns, love, sex, thinking, people, death

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I secretly (I guess not so secretly) want a job analyzing data on this website. This is an amazing repository of expressions of personality and our culture.

Also, I had a liver transplant. Yup. It happened unexpectedly when I was 32 because it turned out that I have a genetic disease called Wilson's. I almost died and had a near death experience. It was an incredible trip, both difficult and awe-inspiring. I have a hell of an awesome scar. For a while I didn't have that little detail on my profile. But it's an awkward topic to bring up on an actual date, so I decided it's better to put it upfront. I find that the experience doesn't define me, but it did change me. I am now pretty much healthy, much more awesome and much less dead. :)

Can you come up with something to tell her, or do you want to invite her to something awesome? If yes, write her a message.
